El Presidente Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I have noticed a little "inflation" of the pricing for certain events at February's 18th Habanos Festival. For Aussies....put it this way, the Gala dinner is now over $1000 AUD. I was also told yesterday by a couple of guys going that accomodation at the Nacional for the week is $430 AUD a night. Bloody hell

polarbear Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Guess they're hoping for an influx of cashed up Americans this year... 2
Bartolomeo Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Nacional rooms were over $240/night last night while checking w friends.....crazy
Benzopyrene Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Thought maybe I wasn't remembering right on the pricing when I saw this today.....but now I know it wasn't that high last year!

Nrengle Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I have a hook up with a guy that has an AirBnB property I met last month in London, it's $60 USD a night. Casa animas. He's a cigar guy too, works at nice shop in London famous for Winston Churchill. If anyone is interested I can pass his email. Not trying to spam, just trying to offer a break to anyone that is thinking of going. Cause that's a ridiculous price, the 430/night.
Olga Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Yup, blame the bloody Yanks! And i's just beginning! 1
MIKA27 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Is the event being held IN AUSTRALIA? Those prices look relative to here 2
Paul3 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Havanathon 2015 was far less expensive and far more fun! 2
santela Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I happen to be going to the island in February, not for the Festival just a general visit (my buddy doesn't even smoke). Should I be concerned with the accommodations? I haven't booked anything yet.
PapaDisco Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 And i's just beginning! Ha ha . . . yes, no doubt we have more where that came from . . . just don't know exactly what yet so we'll both be surprised!
Ryan Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 A 40% price increase on the events. For Jaysus sake.
LGC Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Well, it does seem like they are trying to target the elitest attitude these days... using celebrities for marketing, making fat cigars with flashy bands and boxes, etc. 3
Duxnutz Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Yep. Our bad! Aren't there literally packs of crazed Canucks "abooot" on the streets of Havana already???
PapaDisco Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Aren't there literally packs of crazed Canucks "abooot" on the streets of Havana already??? Well yeah, but everybody loves Canadians, surely Cuba wouldn't try to overcharge them??
Puros Y Vino Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Yikes. There's goes a bucket list item. Filed under "not fulfilled" 3
Coloniales Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 That is insane!! Pass on most of that!! Keith.
PigFish Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Well, it does seem like they are trying to target the elitest attitude these days... using celebrities for marketing, making fat cigars with flashy bands and boxes, etc. ... I tried to like this 18 times! Spend half that on cigars, booze and strippers and you can helluva time and not even have to go to Cuba! Just thinkin' out loud.... -Piggy 2
Paul3 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 A 40% price increase on the events. For Jay-Z's sake. Doctored that up just a bit. 2
MooseAMuffin Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I know they have kind of "relaxed" the traveling to Cuba for us Yanks. But I still don't see how people aren't getting caught. Unless attending this is considered "Support for the people of Cuba" And if I can use that as my reason to attend...maybe I better start filling out my forms
El Presidente Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 I do have mates attending. For two of them it is their first time in Cuba. I advised going to the opening night and ditching the rest. $3000 between them for the final night?.......that pays for a week of debauchery ....and bail.
