Popular Post El Presidente Posted January 22, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 22, 2015 It is a warm spring night on the expansive patio of the Hotel Hermitage in Monte Carlo. A great band is playing in the background ...just loud enough that you can still carry on a conversation. The trays of Champagne are flowing freely all served by unfathomably attractive staff. The buffet comprises copious amounts of fresh lobster, caviar, duck and a host of succulent endangered species cooked to perfection. It is a cigar event, obviously not one of mine ....let's say a Rob Fox event (yes there are also lashings of rare Irish Whisky) The party is in full swing! A cloud has come across the moon and Gino has run off to get changed for the 3rd time in two hours. Ken is holding court in the corner sporting his pink pullover (the only item of clothes he owns without a hole in it). He is wearing shoes. Diana has been sent back to the room for a "time out'. Ryan already has his shirt off, Nate is into the duck, Andy is doing a vertical tasting of Whiskies by himself, Keith is somewhere driving the porcelain bus early, Frank can't find the right cap, Jose is doing "his nicest guy in the world" impression, Hamlet is doing his Scarface one (without knowing), Tom is trying to look sober (and failing), Foxy is not even trying. It is nearing 10pm and a lovely lass with that gorgeous French accent (her name is Dominique..which by circumstance was my first ever girlfriend...a French exchange student in Brisbane ....1980 February 17th to...May 3rd....she used perfume on her letters to me delivered by a mutual friend ....all very covert, the writing was all smudged from the perfume and I never had any idea what she wrote...where was I ) Yes....the lovely lass offers you ONE CIGAR from the following on her platter sourced from the Fox dungeons. Only one. Cohiba 1966 LE La Gloria Cubana Medaille D'Or Number 2 Partagas Corona Bolivar Lonsdale Punch Black Prince Which one do you choose..and why? 8
Strada Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 LGC #2 I can imagine all of these characters lol Good job Rob!
Maplepie Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Bolivar Lonsdale. Hands down my favourite Bolivar. 1

BradNC Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Cohiba 1966 since I've tried that one and liked it.
Ken Gargett Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 why are we at the hermitage? did you get us thrown out of hotel de paris? and since when are lobster and duck endangered species? (and apols for anyone reading this pre the editing of "duck") 1
Rye Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I love the Black Prince' and think they would go nicely with such an evening, but short enough that if things pick up instead of simmer down, it won't be a long one to finish.
Popular Post WarriorPrincess Posted January 22, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 22, 2015 Yes..... where were you when you were writing this No wonder you came downstairs just before with a "glazed" look in your eyes And how come I was sent to my room for "time out" ....of course Dominique. Remind me never to listen your advice again Sorry I have to go back to work while you daydream 11
Ken Gargett Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 and while i am at it, seriously? you giving fashion criticism. you may as well make richard dawkins the next pope! 1
Bartolomeo Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 After I put my shirt back on, its the Punch for me to enjoy watching the night unfold w this cast of characters Good times! 3
Jeremy Festa Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 The Partagas Corona... because I find it goes best with Champagne, while hopefully maintaining enough strength to hold it's own with the Irish Whisky I may dabble in afterwards.
fingerburner Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Punch Black Prince out of curiosity, being the only one I've not indulged in. This certainly sounds like a mildly entertaining evening...
finecigar Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Bolivar Lonsdale for me! I haven't had one of those in ages...
Habana Mike Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 For me at that time of evening and indulgences it would have to be the Boli Lonsdale. I'd have had the BP prior. Why does much of this remind me of recent nights past? 1
ChanceSchmerr Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Why no love for the Partagas Corona? I like the Boli Lonsdale when it draws, and the Punch Black Prince is divine but so inconsistent (sometimes it tastes like nothing). But the Partagas Corona delivers joy every time, a true classic. I'd take it over the other 4, 11 times out of 10. 3
ag794516 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 LGC#2, because I never had one of this and many recommend this to try. This would be a cigar to try at such an evening...
Smallclub Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 But the Partagas Corona delivers joy every time, a true classic. I'd take it over the other 4, 11 times out of 10. Agreed. The Black Prince can be complete garbage, and the Boli lonsdale and the LGC 2 are a bit too light to be paired with strong beverages... I might be tempted with the Cohiba 1966 since it's the only one I have never owned a box …
alloy Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 The 1966 for me. Diana is sent to her room for a "timeout"? While El Presidente smiles at Dominique? I luv the story! If I were in the daydream, could I be sent on the timeout with Diana?
wabashcr Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 You've painted quite the scene. Gatsby's got nothing on this cast of characters. I voted for the Cohiba, and why not?
Geo17pip Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Oh man this is a tough one. I think I would go with the Cohiba, being that I have never tried one of those and it just seems it would fit in well with the class of the party.
garbandz Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Still waiting for a relevant answer from Ken............... LGC ..........always my favorite...
earthson Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 1966 because I've wanted to try one, but just can't justify the price, regardless of the experience.
pbibby Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Bolivar Lonsdale for me. Bolivar is my favorite!
