...
As with all these special, weird or unusual releases, I shall educate myself vicariously Quite an interesting mystery though!
mk05
Is this like the time when they made the Spanish Magnum 46 jars?
Puros Y Vino
This is very odd. Trevor makes reference to an Anejados program from 2011. Look for "Aged Cigars" in this link. Label, new bands an REVISADO stamped on the bottom. Never heard of these two cigars. What are we looking at here? A different Churchill banded as Montecristo? The RyJ some Super Ramones rejects?? I've heard rumors of aged stockpiles in Havana but this doesn't look like the result of that activity.

El Presidente
God I hope they are not the Romeo y Julieta Piramides from early 2000's. The worst Cuban cigars I have ever smoked and no amount of time would make them better.
Lant63
Sancho Panza Corona Gigantes vanished in what 2006? Passable as an aged Monte? *tin hat time* So does this mean in a couple years they will release other discontinued sizes under other brands? One can only pray for Punch SSn2 and la gloria Cubana 1 and 3 under new labels.

Popular Post Ryan
To clear things up, when i said "switcheroo" in my earlier post, what I meant was, an aged Romeo Piramide and an aged Monte Churchill don't make any sense, because they weren't officially being rolled 5-8 years ago. If they were, surely somebody would have made a marketing announcement at the time. "A new vitola for a historic marca with a unique blend that lends itself robustly to the palate of today's most discerning smoker" etc. etc. An aged Monte No.2 and an aged Romeo Churchill, on the other hand, make plenty of sense. Rather than somebody having planned these sizes 5-8 years ago, it would make more sense for a switch to have happened, mistakenly somewhere along the line, and somebody else deciding to go with it because there was already money spent, or somebody deciding, out of the blue, that putting a Monte band on a Churchill and a Romeo band on a Piramide would sell better. Of course, I've been wrong before. Either way, it's a questionable decision when somebody produces an aged, premium, version of something that didn't exist in the first place.

Smallclub
Their marketing dept is beyond comical These guys should work for a circus, or have a TV show… I'm sure they bear big fake red noses and gigantic shoes during their meetings
sengjc
Wait so these are 14 years old? From the time of this announcement until the time they finally get released - might well just be about that.
RijkdeGooier
Someone who smoked the RyJ said they tasted very good. Let's wait and see what they are really like when we can have them in hand. I've heard Ryan's suggestion more than once too.
Colt45
So, from much of what has been said above, they are either inept or they are devious - and cannot be trusted either way. Next you'll all be telling me there is no Santa Claus.....

monkey66
I smoked the Romeo. First half was OK with a bit of twang, second half got harsh and nasty. Not a good blend. If these were any good they would have a Reserva band?

leftimatic
I believe that they are indeed the very same cigars Rob. I tried one recently and ditched it before reaching the 2nd third. How brilliant is that!? Take shitty old cigars, and put a fancy band on it, make it a limited release, and sell them for 3 times as much (in 10 boxes most likely) to people more than willing to waste their money on them because of the rarity of the product. Businesses around the world should model their marketing strategies after these guys. Now to stir the conspiracy pot a little. I wonder. Does this have anything to do with the embargo talks? Hmmm.... I haven't been smoking long enough, but does anyone out there remember a horrible Churchill that could possibly be pawned off in some way as a Monte? Smallclub
If these were any good they would have a Reserva band? Why? After all the concept behind the Reserva is different, the Reserva cigars are not aged. Now if these pyramids are those from 2000, they should have a "Scam" band…

Smallclub
They will be priced well beyond what I believe a cigar is worth They're probably blended well below what I believe a cigar is worth
