I agree. The liga left me wondering what everyone was so enamored with

Blasphemy on the RACF!!!! Haha

All the hype, the buzz, the fancy packagings, the "organized" rarity, etc. for such a poor product. I have smoked 3 sizes, including a tin of Reserva d'Chateau that I have aged 5 years... bleh...

Delivered:

1966, 03 Siglo VI, Monsdales, Dunhill HC (I've had three of those and all were outstanding- worth the holy grail status), ERdM Anniversarios, FdC REs

Didn't deliver:

Many... Particularly Behike 56, HURR, Punch Diadema (purchased a box originally and the 5 smoked were distasteful and boring), and countless NCs

Fair point, I agree with four out of five , I don't mind the packaging and the bands though, that said I do like most of the opus x range especially the No 2 and the Lancero . I almost put the opus x range for the cigar that delivered most. Went with 66, funnily enough I would have had the Monti Sublime second a little way back though but still second. Each to their own.

There are plenty of cigars that I like and plenty more that I don't. I freely admit that I often generalize about cigars. On one hand, the generalization has saved me a lot of money, keeping me from buying cigars that I "often" don't like. On the other hand there is no judging a cigar by its size, brand, or wrapper. I think I understand the concept of playing the odds, so I play them… There are no guarantees, and the cigar that you should hate, may just become a favorite…!

When generalizing, the most produced cigars, the cigars forced into production, and the cigar where most of the money is spent on the package and not the cigar, are generally the most dissapointing!

RE's, EL's, new fat cigars, over-produced robustos and piramides; those are the cigars that typically disappoint me. The popular Montes and Cohibas are a general let down…

Smaller cigars that are not over produced, thinner ring and other lesser popular cigars are to my liking. They are to my liking because they taste better…

One cigar that I never 'got' was the Punch Monarcas. Another is the SLR DC.

I am happy with my Diplomaticos and my ERdM's, RG's and a host of lesser popular cigars. They almost always deliver for me!

I guess the nice thing about being opinionated is that I did not have to find out the hard way that the Big Hillbilly was a loser. If you like them, that is okay, there is no need to rationalize it to me… There is an ass for every seat as I say and everyone should buy, keep and smoke the cigars that they like, not what the smoker next to them likes…

Easy 1966 Cohiba ...amazing

La Flor De Cano Grandiosos , nothing good to say, will leave it at that..thumbsdwn.gif

+1 on both.

LFDC Grand - waiting for the cigar angels to transform these sticks into something....sort of like hoping a $10 bottle of red will be fantasitc in a few years....though these weren't in that price bracket.

Hype that delivers: Lopes rolled Monsdales. Although when I bought mine, I didn't know they were hyped.

Hype that does not: Most ELs. Very, very, few exceptions. Aged (15+ years) cigars. Also too much inconsistency and few exceptions. Conde 54, meh and L.A. Esception, yuck. RACF, blech.

****Above quote was from westg*** (accidently messed up putting the quote in...)

I felt the exact same way when I smoked all my samples. It's just that Rob, El Presidente` spoke so highly of them I just couldn't bring myself to say anything...might've hurt his itty bitty duck feelings! LOL. I truly enjoy the regular production La Flor de Cano Selectos and PC En Cedros much much better than the Grandiosos. Sorry, Rob!
