Maplepie
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Well that's spacious reasoning! (thank you, sweetie)By that logic, this forum keeps tigers away! Have been caught up in Easter Family celebrations. To be fair I will hold off the draw until Monday when Di can give me a hand. Haha! Like the 12s! Good idea! Fuzz
Well that's spacious reasoning! (thank you, sweetie) By that logic, this forum keeps tigers away! Spacious reasoning? Or perhaps, "specious reasoning"? Next you'll be wanting a bear tax....

SaintLuis
The amount of dollars that go into funding these welfare benefits programs is pennies in comparison to other beyond huge budgets. I really don't think any current division or perceived division is caused by this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Please elaborate. Because right now, the "benefits" programs compose 64% of our Federal Budget.

CaptainQuintero
Please elaborate. Because right now, the "benefits" programs compose 64% of our Federal Budget. Is education really 2%?? Just for visual comparison I grabbed the 2013 UK pie chart for spending to correspond with my post on here about how I see a future US budget looking if the country specialised and followed a 'de-empire/world police' route similar to the UK when it could no longer hold into everything post 1945. Cmontoya79
That is a different looking chart than what I located. Interesting. 2 percent on education??? Holy crap!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fosgate
Yeah, people here just want to keep throwing money at education thinking it will fix it. http://www.ijreview.com/2014/04/129667-next-time-liberal-asks-fork-money-public-education-show-graphic/
milo
I think all of the graphics and pie charts are great...to look at; on the other hand, they are complete bullocks. Just because you list a source for data, it does not mean that the data was obtained in a scientific manner. Moreover, without statistical significance and academic transparency it is all BS. Folks, take the factoids with a grain of salt. Regarding Rob's original question, i.e. "[h]ow long will this last?" Who knows? My crystal ball never worked anyway... Habana Mike
Hopefully the thread will last long enough.......putting off until Monday leaves it wide open for a disruptive influence to take hold. Glad it's not done so to this point. Maybe we'll be able to discuss certain political issues in the future, so long as they remain as civil as this one. earthson
How about we try and turn this thread into all out nastiness and see how well we can restrain ourselves until Monday? Kidding... just kidding
El Presidente
Congratulations to all for what has proven to be a fascinating discussion conducted in a manner that sets the tone for how discussions on such topics should be handled. Having read the entire thread I gleaned much from different perspectives. perhaps we have found the formulae for future dicsussions. I will discuss with the mods upon Fuzz's return from vacation next week. Anyhow we have just completed the draw now. Congrats to Laxman. Maplepie
Yeah, people here just want to keep throwing money at education thinking it will fix it. http://www.ijreview.com/2014/04/129667-next-time-liberal-asks-fork-money-public-education-show-graphic/ anytime "Conservative" or "Liberal" is used in a title of an article (unless reporting on a country that uses Cons and Libs as legit titles for ruling parties), it discredits their argument significantly. I mean, what's wrong with titling the bloody thing: "The Lack of Correlation Between Funding and Value of Education" or something along those lines? it's somewhat degrading to both parties (no pun, i promise!) involved when they implicitly assume they have some sort of brain disorder and can't figure something "that appears so simple" out. quite condescending, indeed. Ironically, it's quite prevalent in a place where the essence of both parties is, well, essentialy the same thing. Am i saying we should look for only unbiased news articles? No. but at least have some class when writing an article, mate! Especially about something like a graph. One can interpret data anyway one pleases by charting their respective Xs and Ys. Very hard to make an unbiased chart of Political and Social issues. We see that over and over again in "Climate Change", "Health Care", "American Charitable Donations", etc. Note: I do believe that funneling more cash into edumacation doesn't do as much as it ding-dong SHOULD! But that's a conversation for a later date. Because on this date, we're celebrating Laxman's glorious win of a Partagas Gran Reserva! Rob: Make it mandatory that he should post a review CONGRATS!! CanuckSARTech
Congrats to Laxman. And to Rob, re your thought on making this type of thread a recurring one....I'll echo the sentiments of others - don't push the envelope too far, senor!!!
