Top 5 Worst Constructed Cigars

Was joking last week on the deck with mates about the worst 5 constructed cigars (in volume) that I have ever come across

here was my list going from No 5 to number No1.....notice any correlations

Each of the below had a construction 50 % fail rate or higher....box to box..cab to cab.

Well I definitely won't be getting any of these for the next couple hundred years.

I've still got 1/2 boxes of the 3 long formats above for some reason, similar vintage too.....seems I get lots of poor Lusitanias as well, new or old.

Actually have struggled with a few boxes of RG PE. Still have a dozen+ from a box I pick up in Spain 9-10 years ago that won't smoke and a newer box with a few pegs as well.

Fonseca, the whole marca, is my nemesis. I went five years buying half a dozen each year and I never got anything other than utterly 100% plugged horrors. Finally lost patience and abandoned the brand permanently two years ago.

Almost everything I've ever had from 99-00 is of questionable quality as far as construction. I've always thought it strange that we went from '96-'98 which were epic years in terms of quality straight in to the worst time ever (that I'm aware of).

Now that I'm remembering does anyone else remember Bolivar before the blend change in '96? I sure wish I had some of those old BBF still.

Although love SP, have had many issues with plugged sticks, tight draws, poor construction.

Also many different Churchills and DCs I've he bad bad luck with.

And I agree about the Monte A...

Had some R&J Churchill's from 99-00 that had an extremely high plugged ratio, boxes were worthless.

One cigar I've always fought with is Opus. Had more bad ones than any other cigar. I went through a box of DCs that had the oddest burn issues. I've had more than enough enjoyable one to keep me smoking them though.

Would have to agree with Seamus R&J Churchills, I split a box with a mate years ago and they killed me.

While I do not have a vast amount of experience with 99-01 Boxes, I have had some spectacular cigars from that era, and some unsmokable duds.

My worst box is on the other end of the spectrum:

A box of 2010 RyJ Wide Churchill. Absolute wind tunnels! I think two out of the box were smokable!

Is the best of that period the 2000 Punch RS12?

Similar experience...had another short churchill today and it was a disaster. Only 2 out of the box were decent for me as well. I'm so glad I bought a 10 ct box and not a 25 ct box...I'll never buy another one again.

I've had a large number of Partagas Series D No 5 which have been awfully constructed.

I'd go as far as saying 50% in the box thus far have been hit (Draw is perfect) and miss (Draw was way too tight) and the cigar had to be tossed.

Punch Punch 2001 were utter crap - brick hard and zero draw

Punch Black Prince from 2000(?) were nearly as bad

....apart from REs, I avoid Punch completely these days

Not only the cabs, but the dress boxes as well… and I'd add Partagas lonsdales in 25 db's, and Hoyo du Prince/Maire/Dauphin…

As for the Hoyo DC those that had a god draw were bland and boring…

But my No.1 could be the RyJ Prince of Wales: all the boxes I have checked contained 25 tent pegs.

I'm trying my best with a Punch Churchill right now. Looks great but not getting any flavour and hardly any smoke, pretty grim :-(
