ChanceSchmerr Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 SP Sanchos have to be somewhere on that list too!
Blakes Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 For me personally I've had the worst luck with DC's. Lucitanias in particular...
alloy Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Had one box of 00 Hoyo de Dieux and one box of 01 SLR Serie A. Both boxes the cigars were hard as rocks and were unsmokeable. Plugged beyond belief. Never will buy from that time period ever again.
finecigar Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 SP Sanchos have to be somewhere on that list too! Agreed! Have had many worthless boxes with 7-9/10 plugged. Bummer because when they aren't they are crackers
ewipper Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Partagas Churchill Deluxe Partagas Lonsdales 99-01 Hoyo Epicure De Luxe (Sorry but it's true) Raphael Gonzalez Coronas Extra (esp. 1994-1996 and 1999-2002) ERDM Lonsdales, 1999/2000 (Esp. Nonhavana factories) H. Upmann Sir Winston (2010) H. Upmann Monarcas (2000-2002) H. Upmann No. 1 (2000-2001)
ewipper Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Not only the cabs, but the dress boxes as well… and I'd add Partagas lonsdales in 25 db's, and Hoyo du Prince/Maire/Dauphin… As for the Hoyo DC those that had a god draw were bland and boring… But my No.1 could be the RyJ Prince of Wales: all the boxes I have checked contained 25 tent pegs. You are write on all but Dauphin and Prince of Wales. 2001 on both were good cigars with decent construction (my experience).
Ophidion Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I've only had one bad draw from a 99-01 cigar and my recent box of 01 jls1 have had perfect construction. I think I have had very good luck in that department based on the horror stories I've read over the years. My worst have been 09/10 bbfs and 10 monte 2s
Louich Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 The absolute worst Ive smoked was Cohiba Secretos...they are just plugged...all of them.

ajgagnon Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Cuaba Divinos from the same 99-01 period. Put me permanently off that brand. The only cigar that has literally blown up in my face. It basically evaporated in a ball of fire when I took a puff... The rest of the dozen or so I had at the time were either too loose or jam packed without any draw. Was that from the Castro stash with the CIA '00 box code? I've had a couple of cigars do that, but they were mostly dry or abused (cracked). Haven't seen it happen in a long time. Lately I even seem to be able to smoke through a cracked wrapper without diluted smoke! Must be good binder these days.
Lotusguy Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 SP Sanchos have to be somewhere on that list too! +1M
CUBANO Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 A box of RG Lonsdales from 2001. Only 3-4 were smokable.
mk05 Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 01 J Los were perfect. J Lo was indeed perfect in 2001. Such a fox.
melies Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 J Lo was indeed perfect in 2001. Such a fox. Lol!! I thought the same thing!
bassman Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Any thin ring gauged cigar from the 99-00 era! Oh but my 99 MdeO#1s and Partagas 898s are awesome. Have to agree on the SLR Churchills & would add 01 Upmann Monarchs. Tent pegs.
Stanislaw Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 The only marca that's given me trouble in the last few years has been Trinidad.... They are way overpriced for the shoddy construction you see these days, I suggest only buying when the Czar has inspected the boxes....
