common, lets all be real. we would all kill to have that kind of collection. Maybe hes keeping boxes closed as a nest egg for his children or grand children...and i dont knwo about you guys, but he was giving those two other guys some pretty awesome cigars left right and center. i'm sure they walked away from his house at the end of the night with 10+ exellent vintage cigars.

I for one would like the thank the OP for posting these videos.

and I agree with Nino and Rob. Probably why guys like Jimmy stay discreet or at least try.

Kill? Interesting

Many FOH members have similar or more advanced collections. The discussion was about collecting and a variety of related topics. Clearly a sore spot for some. Thesaurus? Clever stuff. Incredibly inaccurate but clever nonetheless.

Philosophize with a hammer my friends.

Thanks for the shout out :)

Thanks for the education. Really, Bart, your "daily smoke" reviews, your comments, your pictures from your stash, they've been really helpful for me over time. Same goes for the other gentlemen who share so freely on this forum.

Wow. Just....wow. On so many different levels here.

Nino, Wilkey, El Pres - all very well put, and all with points I agree on.

I'm glad I missed out on all the "fun" for this one.

"Seriously some of you people are cigar Kardashians with a Thesaurus. Drama queens looking for a stage."

"oooooh" I would never wear that shirt

I think this every time I watch an FOH vid! Then again, we can't all be fashion trendsetters like you Rob! :P

I have that shirt, but I don't wear it... T-shirts that come in XXXL shouldn't be "form fitting".

I should no longer be amazed at how people can make snap judgements of others who they do not know from Adam, but some of the comments here still amazed me. You think you can know someone's thoughts and intentions from a couple Youtube videos?

Rich is a good guy. He's a collector, sure, but he's a CIGAR LOVER first. Most of that "untouched" stuff will be smoked by him and friends he generously give them to. He just like his Cubans with a lot of age, and while they are aging it's fun to enjoy the collection aspect. Like most of us, he doesn't collect to have them appreciate and then sell 'em, but it's fun to know that something you bought is now worth more, isn't it? And so he got some facts wrong, so what? Since when do you have to be an expert to enjoy a cigar?

I think the reason you don't see more AWESOME cigar porn videos like this is all the flack people give when they are posted. Recockulous. I mean I'll probably never see any of those old Cubans in person ('70s Dunhills and Davidoffs?), so to see them on video was really fun!

But I'm biased because I know Rich from another board, he and I have very similar tastes in cigars (CC and NC alike), and I also wear that shirt :)

Thank you for your perspective, and especially for that quote !

Yep.

Agreed.

More smokin' the cigars.

Less strokin' the ego.

I should no longer be amazed at how people don't understand simple comments…

Don't be ridiculous, people who own huge cigar collections DON'T post on Youtube, period… :daydream: (at least in Europe)

To be fair.....

In a cigar crowd, there is no shortage of egos....

Innit so Flyin' Friend?

Wow. Absolutely uncalled for.

I dare to say that Nino has added far more to the cigar culture here, and elsewhere on the internet, than many others. There is no ego there. It's about sharing the experiences, and 99.9999% of us are all the more richer for it, and gladly have always thanked him for it.

A completely pompous comment. This thread needs to be (re-)locked.

If the ego shoe fits, wear it.

If the exhibition of cigar fun doesn't fit, don't watch it.

Simple - no need to argue.

Khomi?? WTF???

Seriously brother, I'm shocked at your comments. I'm not sure what has got your scr0te all screwed up, but I hope you're just in a pissy mood that will pass soon. You're better and classier than this mate. I sincerely hope all is well.

Rob.

Well put. I hope the sentiments expressed ever discourage you from cigar blogging. Many of us enjoy your pictures and content. Blog on!

FWIW. Usually when one points out another's "ego" it's due to a issue with their own ego. There is always going to be someone that has more than you. It's a fact of life. Be comfortable in your own skin and stop hating.

As for the source videos. The guy (Rich) seemed like an OK guy. Someone wanted to film his collection, he obliged. It should have been something to enjoy rather than dissected ad nauseum.

It's not imminent. I do not lock or delete threads to shut people up...only if forum rules have been violated.

The reason this thread will likely stay open is the same reason it was unlocked:

Every post, every interaction is insight into the mind, the motives, and the values of the poster. Every statement is evidence and testament to the poster's online character and how that relates to the kind of community and camaraderie Rob Ayala promotes from the deepest depths of his heart.

And let me be clear about one thing. You could be a saint in the physical world, but it's who and how you are here that counts in the long run. That's because when you consider the fact that such a small percentage of the nearly 7,000 members will ever have a chance to meet and establish relationships face-to-face, overwhelmingly what matters to the online community here is what you choose to present as your online self.

In my experience, the high road is truly the road best taken. Always. That dictum has never led me astray...only when I have strayed from this, that I've found myself where I did not want or intend to be.
