Thanksgiving

Recommended Posts

A little less than a week away and Turkey day will be here. Dinner with the future inlaws on Wednesday and dinner with my family on Thursday. Planning on having waaaay too much food and probably a Parti Lusi.

So, what are you doing for Thanksgiving if anything and more importantly which habano are you going to smoke to celebrate (ironically, the country with a damn embargo) American history and the discovery of the New World? As the say at Habanos SA, "Since 1492".

I will be celebrating with my Tribe. As a Native American history teaches us that the settlers would not have survived that first winter without the knowledge and skills taught them by the Indians. Thanksgiving is a Celebration to honor the fall and final harvest before winter sets in. Besides the usual Thanksgiving feast, we typically also play live Native American music. I am one of the Tribal Drummers. We also have several string instruments, NA Flute, Fife, shakers, etc sort of a Tribal Band. We have 6 concerts scheduled so far next year at different Native American Festivities.

On the real question, I believe that I might just pull out a Apr 02 RA 898 to enjoy after dinner, that or a 05 RA Estupendo.

I may just pull out one of those 898's myself and celebrate your heritage and my survival with you!!! Cheers, -Piggy

Great evening planned with friends and family.

Will start to soak the trurkey in brine come wednesday evening.

Home made Herb stuffing, home made biscuits, Over roasted sweet and russett potatoes with rosemary and black pepper, Gravy made from pan juices, cranberry sauce, and for dessert, home made apple pie with sharp chedder and vanilla ice cream.

:o And then I get to diet for our theatre perfomance come new years eve since I need to lose weight for a part.

Hrmph, skinny people....

maybe bust out an '08 Magnum 50 after that. (it's not as ready as I'd like it, but good enough to give thanks for!)

Sadly nothing. School only gave us a couple days off, so I can't fly back to San Diego for Thanksgiving, but my brother and cousin are flying out, so I'm doing Thanksgiving at my cousin's sister's place.

We already bought a 25 lbs. turkey and we'll probably get some sort of brisket also since there'll be around 15 people over.

In a few days, all of our American brothers & sisters, will be celebrating Thanksgiving Day

at home with family or friends. There will be lots of food on the table plus , I hope,

a few nice drinks to go along, plus some great cigars during the day & night,of course.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone and their family, a great Thanksgiving

but also some thoughts on the symbol that this day represents in the history of your nation.

As a Frenchman, we do not celebrate this holiday, neither does the French Turkey.

This is why I would like to, in the name of all the French turkeys, pass this "MESSAGE OF HOPE "

to all our turkey brothers in the USA for this Thanksgiving Day 2009.

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU, TURKEY !!!!

Happy Thanksgiving day to all our US brethren!

Someone please explain to me sharp cheddar and Vanilla Icecream :o

It is a Northern Custom to place a slice of Cheddar Cheese on top of a very warm slice of Apple pie. Don't know personally, as I am not a Yankee.

The scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream is a Southern Tradition. The Apple Pie "A La Mode", is a beautiful thing!

Pardon me, I dont wish to offend anyone, BUT, I heard and witnessed that alot of Americans put/match cheese with almost everything both sweet and savoury. Whats up with that. If its not cheese, its cinnamon... :o

Oddly enough, I have had a rolled crepe with nutella filling and grilled cheese on top. Tasted really good, but a very odd combination.

Being Italian, we use ricotta in entrees and desserts, lol. But never on pie or icecream (unless its ricotta pie :lmao:). Ive seen folks where I live put ketscup on burritos. F(king burritos? They need salsa not ketscup, lol.

Thanksgiving at my house again for the third year in a row. My wife is already busy getting the food ready. I think we've got about 19 guests between my in-laws and neighbors. My wife had me rearranging furniture left and right last night. Should be a good time...especially if the booze gets flowing. Think I may sit outside and enjoy a Sigo VI - by myself as I am the only cigar smoker in the bunch. Go figure...

Going to go to my parents house for Turkey day. Have some family up from Florida so it should be a good time. Probable 15 people or so. Its going to be my daughter's (3mth old) first thanksgiving, so I definately have a lot of thanks to give. Unfortunately my wife is working in the evening, so we may do a small brunch at our house before she heads off to work.

Like you chenman, I too am the only one that smokes cigars. And since my folks hate it when I smoke, I may have a VR unicos or Sir Winnie after brunch...all depending on the weather.

Traditional Thanksgiving for me here in San Diego. Having some good friends over for the day. Martinelli Russian River Valley Pinot Noir will be the wine for the day as Pinot goes well with the Turkey. Highly recommend any of the Martinelli offerings as the winemaker is Helen Turley one of the best in America.

Will have a pre-meal smoke and I am planning on a 06 Montecristo Robusto EL. After the meal and Pumpkin Pie, I will take it outback for the Macallan 25 neat with an 01 Montecristo A. Being that these friends are not big cigar fans, I will offer them a NC Oliva V

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
