Partagás Serie D No.4 MEG Abr 2016

I haven't had a Partagas Serie D No.4 from this box for awhile now. I picked these up as a half-box offering on a 24:24 listing a few years ago and I remember going through ten of the twelve cigars within 12 months (some I handed out). Since the Partagas Serie D No.4 has now surpassed the Montecristo No.4 as the highest selling Habanos vitola in the world, I think I figured at the time that I should have some in my humidor.

I must say that, in general, I prefer Partagas on the mild side and well-rested, unless it's a Lusitanias because these Double Coronas are usually big on sourdough, light on spice or pepper and medium-mild or less in strength, even when young. This Party D4, at three-and-a-half years of age, was simply exquisite and similar to a young Lusitanias; this was big on sourdough, coffee and leather flavours, had no spice or pepper whatsoever and was medium-mild in strength.

In hindsight, this was the best Partagas Serie D No.4 I've had in some time. What a shame I only have one left from this box!

Even though it is, you know, NC, it is still wow. The fourth picture is just reference.  The other two is the humidor it came out of, a guy’s collection got hold of last year.

Fascinating how much bandage on an NC compared to a cc don’t you agree?

Sorry but I can’t give you the best answer in this one. The only examples of these that I have smoked have been from this box which is December 2017. Can definitively inform that at this age there is pancake. Perhaps another member whom has tried a younger stick can offer more on this.

I had one that was a year and a half and couldn’t get any of the pancake flavor. But I had it ROTT. So I’ll probably give them a few months before I try again.

I had a 30 minute break tonight between teaching drum lessons and a pre-production session for an artist I’m working with. The decision was either eat dinner or smoke cigar.

Unfortunately, no.  The invitation was only for me.  

But while our driver was waiting for me outside, he was working diligently to get Javi in, and he managed to get him in for a tour this morning.  Our driver is truly the best!  You could tell, he was as upset as I was about Javi not being able to come.
