I’m going with the alternate theory. I’m not saying extraterrestrial 👽. I’m more along the lines of Graham Hancock. There were intelligent civilizations much older than what we previously thought existed. 10,000yrs +. See Ancient Apocalypse on Netflix.

The Egyptians found ways to make engineering work simply because they had no other choice. Nowadays, we don't have to rely on humans and the science of leverage so much due to computerisation and machinery. So, we marvel at what they achieved. Simply put, they found a way to make it happen.

fascinating that the vast majority of comments are from those who went with the Aliens (love Stargate and even starting watching old episodes again recently, but i am leaving it out of the non-fiction category), as if they feel the need to justify their box-of-frogs choice. mind you, there are certain people on the planet who, if exposed as aliens, would make so much more sense. 

seriously? aliens came down and built the pyramids and then buggered off. and Spurs will win the EPL next year. what, the aliens were bored? lets go and play in earth's sandpit. spare me. 

it was another civilisation way back when? so they built the pyramids but wanted to leave absolutely no other evidence of their existence? and if they were so smart, where are they now? it just gets weirder and weirder.

can anyone who does think stargate is real, please tell us why. an awful lot of people not saying why.

I believe everything's linked to our modern idea of progress which is basically flawed. Science and technology have gone so far since the industrial revolution that it's almost impossible for some (mostly in the western world, to be fair) to compute that our ancestors were able to create stuff we wouldn't be able to today, which leaves room for very unlikely theories about aliens and hidden advanced civilisations.

Yet, here it is. The simplest answer would be that many skills were lost to History and that ancient men weren't just savages.

Philosophically, any alien civilization that would have the intelligence and resources to make it to our planet from wherever they come from, would be expected to be altruistic in their endeavors. It would make sense for them to come, bestow some knowledge and technology and leave. However, it feels odd that they wouldn't come around and help us more often then, given the state of things. *Gestures at all around*

My favorite example of this is Roman Concrete, we simply didn't know that they were using saltwater in their recipe, and could never make their recipe work.

You certainly have a general expectation of positive outcomes. Why not consider that aliens would come to enslave us and sap the planet of its resources? Is that not a philosophical option that just hasn’t occurred yet?

Geology shows the Sphinx is greater than 20K years old due to water erosion that doesn't fit in with the 5000 year narrative that is currently accepted. The construction of the great pyramids still defies modern understanding. We don't have the technology to move that many blocks and raise them hundreds of feet in the air and build it in the amount of time it was claimed to have been built in. Aliens? Who knows? Back then any society with advanced technical knowledge would be looked upon as Gods. Lost civilizations and lost know how? Could be. There is evidence of far older civilizations (Gobleki Tempe in Turkey for one). Egyptian archaeology seems to framed in the context of supporting the Abrahamic religions storylines. Any discoveries that break that timeline or don't fit are ignored. There are accounts from Greek philosophers who visited the Giza plateau and were walked through some of subterranean chambers. Modern Egyptology says there's no such thing, but 3D satellite mapping seems to show vast cavities below the plateau that are massive. My mind is open to more possibilities on the subject. 

And FWIW, the most impressive pyramid ever constructed is the VR Unicos.

@Chibearsv in relation to the question posed about Pyramids, etc, if that was the plan, why aren't they here yet? I don't have my sources handy, but any civilization that would be able to muster the resources and technology for interstellar travel would most likely have shed the ideas that weigh down growth in that matter, leading them to be peaceful.

I'd argue strongly for the CPE. Those things must have been constructed by powers we can't comprehend.

I wish the Egyptian government would allow for further investigation into the below the pyramids. Researchers say there are enormous structures below, and government says no there isn't and you cannot look.
