Fake or Real?? How do you know?

So almost fake, but not.

He's not precisely correct in that EL band year fonts were not entirely different in that era but specifically the year font of the 2006 band was oddly small.

I would take this guy more seriously if he specialised in videos called, "how to look like a cheap pimp". On that topic...I would take everything he has to say as gospel.

Slightly harsh? I don't know Jasim but those that do have only good things to say.

I'm sure he's a lovely bloke. But we all have the right to be creeped out by certain people. His mannerisms and dress sense, make me feel intensely uneasy. Maybe he would feel the same way about me...but I don't make a living grifting on YouTube, so we will never know.

The maxim "never judge a book by it's cover" is apparently well and truly dead.

On the topic of pimp - I’ll be honest - if I actually thought I could pull off pimp-esque clothing, I would. Unfortunately wife / friends wouldn’t let me live it down so I stick with middle of the fairway.

Sadly with influencers being ten a penny, consumers of review like myself, have the ability to discard them easily. I naturally navigate to people like yourself and Ken, John etc, not dressing up the process. Worts and all, as Cromwell would say. Cigars for me have nothing to do with dandies, or dress codes, or etiquette etc. For me all that bullshit is lock step with private clubs and elitism, it leaves me cold.

I wish them all the best, but there brand doesn't catch my eye, or make me click their content,  the exact opposite. Like any product with me, the product that required the most dressing up, is usually all show and no go.

The cigar world has always been full of eccentrics. Only the medium and resultant opportunities have changed.

Don't get me wrong. I love 'real' eccentrics. He doesn't strike me as that however, he strikes me as someone working a gimmick to get hits.

As a basic rule, my bag is the Simon Chase's of this world, the people who know, but don't shout the loudest.

There will be, and are people that love people like Jasim and Kirby, but they inevitably are marmite, they should enjoy and console themselves with the 50% of people that love them...and pay people like me (the other 50%)...no mind.

Here is another if anyone is interested. I follow him on insta. He certainly gets his hands on some amazing cigars.

100% agree 99 !

But this hobby is marketing and a lifestyle look for some and there is a look that goes with it ..more power to them.

For me, I am just as passionate and maybe more and I don’t play along with the marketing or lifestyle look...and I was shut out by many because of it. But I was welcomed by many for being me !

I always went by the Blue Collared cigar smoker and never really went the in look style of a so called Cigar expert.

I learned a lot here from a lot of past members past and present.

And gained a wealth of knowledge that most will never learn .

I follow Jasim and enjoy his stuff....seems like a good guy and the look he has works for him.

Enjoy your hobby and learn as much as you can ask many questions. That's what really matters.

Cohiba wrapper looks like crap. Would not buy it real or not.

Where is he? Looks like a cool vibe with the music and all that.

I like his style too, he handles it well. Most can’t play it off as well as he does.

I hate posers especially social media posers/influencers, I think most (not all) of them are really despicable. I've have had my fair share of dealing with a famous influencer and they unbelievably feel so entitled, just never again. Despite my opinion, I think IMO Jasim dresses to the occasion…went to Dubai not long ago, with such a hyper rich, hyper multicultural and super colorful world he is engaging in, nobody will notice him if he is not dressing himself up to be different. Good for him 👍

I'm not a big fan of Jasim but as @ATGroom posted in another topic earlier, he runs a chain of LCDH in UAE so he must know more than I gave him credit for initially.

LCDH's are not so prominent in UAE and the general stock of cigars I found to be lackluster.

In retrospect, yes I little harsh. I've thought a little further as to why I have a negative reaction to him, and similar to Kirby, He gives me magician or 'spiv' vibes. I for some reason have a strong dislike for magicians or illusionists, and plainly that's not his fault.

"Spiv" is a uniquely UK word I believe, and they were shifters of moody goods in the 1950s, and generally low market con men. His style I realised does remind me of this, and there is good chance I've mentally associated negativity.

The consensus from people that have met him, is that he's a nice bloke, so fair play to him.

I saw a YouTube video about Jason and he was described as a cigar sommelier. Nice work if you can get it.
