Most recently happened to me when I flew into Bilbao airport.  Make sure they make you right!  Buy all the toiletries you'd need and whatnot!  In that instance, my bag was just delayed overnight so I only bought bathroom stuff to be reimbursed and also had them deliver my bag to my hotel in San Sebastian.

Another time they lost my snowboard bag for 5 days on a trip - I made out with 5 extra pairs of boxers and socks, goggles, and gloves!  Also got rentals for all those days too!

I now put an airtag thing in my checked bag so I know where it's at

I once flew to Seoul for work and same thing happened. Was almost impossible to find clothes to fit a large size in Europe. I did two days of business meetings while wearing a bunch of souvenir t-shirts for their upcoming Winter Olympics.

Friend of mine from the gym has just started working for a company that does s/w for airports baggage systems. He's shocked anything ever works from what he's seen so far!

Air Tags, Tiles, whatever tracking device your tech is compatible with get some.  I would rather tell the airline where my bag is than ask them where it is.

I recall last year that @SigmundChurchill had his luggage lost en route to a ski trip and was able to expense a very nice Moncler jacket as he needed something warm and the airline had lost his luggage.

Maybe I’m misremembering, but you should do a bit of a Singapore shopping spree and submit back to airline.

Yes, the airline paid for that coat and a bunch of other clothes for my family and I to wear in the 3 days it took for our luggage to arrive.  Total was about $5,000 worth of clothes.

That was United Airlines, and I am a platinum level frequent flyer.  I'm not sure if that played a role, or if it's because we got dropped off in the Rocky Mountains during winter without any clothes, but I got absolutely no arguments from the airline.

Save your receipts.

I use air tags in our bags too.  They are great.

Tip:  Don't check while in the air.  It will show your bags back at the airport you left, and you will start worrying over nothing.  After you land, they will eventually show up on the phone after they have been unloaded from the plane.

My experience as well.

Got back last night from a 4 day extended 2 week vacation thanks to the 737-Max issues. Traveling seems to be getting worse. Hope your luggage is located & returned soon.

The international terminal at SFO doesn’t have a lost luggage person or department anymore...the perfect ending to a unwanted overnight, cancelled flight stay in Canada. I’ll take 2am in Singapore 👻

On the return flight from Athens now, but on the way there 2 of our bags were "lost" (including a carry on I was forced to check due to lack of space). I say "lost" because I saw them miss our connection in Newark in real time via air tags. Thanks to that info the airline got them to our hotel room 2 days later.

I rarely check a bag but on a trip back from Havana my checked bag, priority tag and all did not arrive. I had to check the bag because carry on was stuffed full of cigars . Havana is about the only trip I did regularly where I check a bag. Had it been the cigars missing I would have panicked but my suitcase with clothes didn’t matter because I was home. Suitcase showed up a couple of days later.

Leaving for home tonight so no doubt I will see it in Oz in a couple of days.

Meanwhile, I have been out shopping :ok:

Time is our most valuable asset and when you have to waste yours because someone else didn’t do their job, it is incredibly frustrating.

We only do carry on anymore especially when we travel internationally. Gotten used to washing things in Sinks with Hotel Shampoo. We've done 2 weeks in Italy and a 2 week cruise in Spain.

The Cruise was kind of cheating as they had a cleaner on board.

Also, I've learned to always carry and extra pair of cloths in a backpack (this was learned the hard way).

I went to Europe with my kids a few years ago with just backpacks. The airline wanted $60 Euros per bag. Yes, we had to wash clothes every 3-4 days and had to buy shampoo when we got there. They finally took the shampoo in Belgium on our way back. If I can go to Europe with just a backpack, I can go anywhere else in the world doing the same. John
