Popular Post El Presidente Posted January 10, 2024 Popular Post Posted January 10, 2024 I am sure most of us have been in this position at least once. You stand by the luggage belt as the crowd around you slowly thins. eventually you are the only one left; the belt stops, and the bell goes off telling you that the show is over. your luggage is MIA. It's 2am in Singapore's Changi airport. God knows how Deathstar/Jetstar airways lost my luggage on the 2 hr direct flight from Phuket. The leg was flown economy as the flight had no business class. There is always some level of comfort when they put that "priority" sticker on your luggage just before it goes down the chute. I always imagined my luggage being personally patted in the hold throughout the flight. No doubt it will turn up in Singapore tomorrow just as I am hopping on a plane home to Oz. Can I just say that the smartest people in the world don't work the 2am shift at the lost property section of an airport? There was more than a touch of the Hangovers "Mr Chow" in the gent who took my 2:30am lost luggage report. He was off the planet It crossed my mind if I really had to hand over my 4 digit security code. It is not the cigars that concern me but rather what they will make of the gimp mask and assorted accessories. Sitting here on the balcony at Clark Quay in my undies. I had better go do some shopping before lunch with Manu 6 2
ChangBang Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Most recently happened to me when I flew into Bilbao airport. Make sure they make you right! Buy all the toiletries you'd need and whatnot! In that instance, my bag was just delayed overnight so I only bought bathroom stuff to be reimbursed and also had them deliver my bag to my hotel in San Sebastian. Another time they lost my snowboard bag for 5 days on a trip - I made out with 5 extra pairs of boxers and socks, goggles, and gloves! Also got rentals for all those days too! I now put an airtag thing in my checked bag so I know where it's at

MagicalBikeRide Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 I once flew to Seoul for work and same thing happened. Was almost impossible to find clothes to fit a large size in Europe. I did two days of business meetings while wearing a bunch of souvenir t-shirts for their upcoming Winter Olympics. 4
ha_banos Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Friend of mine from the gym has just started working for a company that does s/w for airports baggage systems. He's shocked anything ever works from what he's seen so far! 1

joeypots Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Air Tags, Tiles, whatever tracking device your tech is compatible with get some. I would rather tell the airline where my bag is than ask them where it is. 3

Maybe I’m misremembering, but you should do a bit of a Singapore shopping spree and submit back to airline. Yes, the airline paid for that coat and a bunch of other clothes for my family and I to wear in the 3 days it took for our luggage to arrive. Total was about $5,000 worth of clothes. That was United Airlines, and I am a platinum level frequent flyer. I'm not sure if that played a role, or if it's because we got dropped off in the Rocky Mountains during winter without any clothes, but I got absolutely no arguments from the airline. Save your receipts. 8 hours ago, joeypots said: Air Tags, Tiles, whatever tracking device your tech is compatible with get some. It will show your bags back at the airport you left, and you will start worrying over nothing. After you land, they will eventually show up on the phone after they have been unloaded from the plane. 3 1

My experience as well. 1
Ruben133 Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Maybe in the meantime the airport porters will taste your cigars.
wjs Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Got back last night from a 4 day extended 2 week vacation thanks to the 737-Max issues. Traveling seems to be getting worse. Hope your luggage is located & returned soon.

cigaraholic Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 The international terminal at SFO doesn’t have a lost luggage person or department anymore...the perfect ending to a unwanted overnight, cancelled flight stay in Canada. I’ll take 2am in Singapore 👻
Bijan Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 On the return flight from Athens now, but on the way there 2 of our bags were "lost" (including a carry on I was forced to check due to lack of space). I say "lost" because I saw them miss our connection in Newark in real time via air tags. Thanks to that info the airline got them to our hotel room 2 days later. 3
LLC Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I rarely check a bag but on a trip back from Havana my checked bag, priority tag and all did not arrive. I had to check the bag because carry on was stuffed full of cigars . Havana is about the only trip I did regularly where I check a bag. Had it been the cigars missing I would have panicked but my suitcase with clothes didn’t matter because I was home. Suitcase showed up a couple of days later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
El Presidente Posted January 11, 2024 Author Posted January 11, 2024 Still missing. Leaving for home tonight so no doubt I will see it in Oz in a couple of days. Meanwhile, I have been out shopping 3

SpecialK Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 We only do carry on anymore especially when we travel internationally. Gotten used to washing things in Sinks with Hotel Shampoo. We've done 2 weeks in Italy and a 2 week cruise in Spain. The Cruise was kind of cheating as they had a cleaner on board. Also, I've learned to always carry and extra pair of cloths in a backpack (this was learned the hard way).
JohnnyO Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I went to Europe with my kids a few years ago with just backpacks. The airline wanted $60 Euros per bag. Yes, we had to wash clothes every 3-4 days and had to buy shampoo when we got there. They finally took the shampoo in Belgium on our way back. If I can go to Europe with just a backpack, I can go anywhere else in the world doing the same. John
