I was asked last week if I had any  cigar codes  that I live by. There are a few 

I thought it a good question to put to members here.

Unless we are talking about ways of life related to cigars, then my code is just to be generous and not judgmental. Share with others you think might be interested and let them enjoy their own journey.

Life's too short to tolerate a poorly performing cigar.

If it's easily fixable, I'll give a small effort to fix it, otherwise into the trash and try for another one.

For me it's - don't ever buy a certain box for the sake of impressing people, or "showing off" with. It can probably lead to a bunch of cigars that may not fit your flavor preference profile and definitely lead to financial woes!

Avoid smoking in wet weather, wind or adverse conditions, if possible. An outstanding smoking experience can't be forced or manufactured. Just let it come to you and enjoy the ride, including all the 'ups and downs'!

In recent years, my relationship with cigars has been shaped by an underlying thought (or a code) that fair and reasonable pricing is central to the enjoyment - eg where I live in Ireland, a D4 is now ~$50 in local shops. It takes away from the experience when it feels like you’re on the wrong end of the deal.

If I have a friend over, they are always offered to smoke whatever I’m smoking. If it’s good enough for me, it’s good enough to share.
