Because it's a complete departure from everything that's great about Cuba Cigar heritage?. Because it's a shameless steer to the American/Chinese markets?. It's painful and it's crass.   If you involved and paid decent design/craftspeople on this project, they would be stunning.  As it stands they look like cheap tat you would see in Las Vegas

What's the issue? That Partagas has gone blue?

Uhh, no. It’s that it’s gone tacky.

Such gaudy over stylized swag. Definitely looks like the insides of a Las Vegas or Macau casino. Besides all that why do we need to change the color of Partagas? Can't we leave the iconic brands alone to have a classic look.

No one likes the new design? ....Magic!
I'll snap up as many boxes as I want on 2424

I am definitely in the minority but I really like the styling. Blue and gold together looks neat to me

The design is good. It looks good. My gripe is that it breaks from traditional color motifs. It looks like a General Cigar take on Partagas branding.  I would love to try them mind you, being 109's and all.

makes you wonder if they found some magic new tobacco strain and saved it for this new Partagas line.....or is it a D4 with a blue band?

Doesn't the marca need tobacco specific fincas and curing methods to define what is a Partagas?  Or has that all gone to the wayside?

Playing along and assuming that is still true, that would mean it's all the same tobacco that's always been used for Partagas.  Are the extra bands that more costly to produce?? lol

They could've expanded their holdings and planted new strains.  As long as it's from the fincas would be defining element (beyond factory) to any marca for me.

I haven't seen any info about new strains.  Surely that would be advertised and promoted, even in Cuba, no?  I admittedly do not know enough about the details of the whole process from seed to farm to curing to factory, but from what I've seen and read in a lot of posts on this site, the concept of marca-specific tobacco does seem kind of wishy-washy.

My point is, creating some new line using the same tobacco they always used and selling them for an obscene price is kind of funny to me.  Cut back on the E2 and Lusi production, let's put that tobacco towards this new line.  Same with the Monte Linea 1935 - where's all this new super premium tobacco come from?  I think the answer is it comes from nowhere.  My feeling is it's a new line they create and market as a premium product when in reality it's the same tobacco they used to put into good Monte Esp 1's and 2's

Pretty close to the truth I bet.  Selectedt specific bails of the same tobacco used in something else.  Art of blending are how brands; cigars and otherwise are able to maintain a certain profile.  Organic matter like tobacco can vary even from the same finca.  One acre could be better than the other.  After curing, a certain bunch is just better than the rest...
