I am in need of upgrading my Headphones and as usual, there is no better place to get feedback/input  than here :D

I moved away from Bose 6 years ago to Sony and have owned Sony M3 and Sony M4. M3's are were great but I have gone through them. I am very disappointed in the M4's as they have a habit of dropping the bluetooth connection. I have had them for 2 years. I know there are M5's but I hesitant for two reasons. The M4 experience and the fact that the ear cups in the M5 can't lay flat/fold when around your neck.

Useage:

  • I use them to work out/gym every day.
  • I walk and make all  my  telephone calls during that 1hr every day.

I am brand agnostic.  I don't use headphones for music.

Let me know what you good folk are using and experiences :ok:

Noise isolation is better than active noise cancelling in my experience. Get some 50 bucks head phones of your choosing that have compatible tips for  some foam tips from complyfoam.

I enjoy the google pixel buds pro they are great for calls since they can using some tech remove wind / other noises so only your voice goes through.

They are active noise cancelling and also since they are buds I tend to find them better for working out. Over the ear buds get all sweaty and nasty.

Definitely work better with an android phone then an iphone.

Mus, have had zero success with compatible tips/foam inserts.  (assuming we are talking the same thing).

Just need a set and forget system of overear headphones that can handle gym/calls/summer heat (sweat).

For noise canceling headphones, especially when on planes and calls, I really like the AirPods Max from Apple. They’re expensive, but they just work perfectly. They’re super comfortable, reliable, great battery life. Ear cups are also removable and replacable. I love taking calls with them as they’re great for isolating voice. They’re my FOHZoom headphones. I connect them to my Apple TV when I want to watch something in bed on TV silently and the Mrs. is laying next to me sleeping. Bass response and clarity are brilliant. Apple has a great return program - worth trying.

In the gym I really like the wireless Powerbeats Pro. They’re not noise canceling, but they do a damn good job of isolating. They also come with several sizes of fit that you can change out. You can prob find these for $129US.

I love the Bose QC 35 II's. I have two pair now and will probably buy a third eventually. I've tried the Sony's, but they were just very uncomfortable for my head and ear size/shape. I also have a pair of QC 45s, but I don't find that the Noise cancelling, Bluetooth quality or sound quality are any better than the 35s. The 45s are WAY lighter weight that the 35s, to the point that they feel flimsy to me. Almost like toys. I use mine roughly 6 hours a day and take all my calls and meetings with them. Other people have said that I sound much better on the 35s as well. I think Bose should be pretty close to releasing a QC 55 (or whatever they end up calling it) so if you can wait, it may be worth it to see what they offer.

Thanls Cory. Both the Bose 35 II's and the 45's are available on CC points here. Certainly worth considering.

Another vote for Bose QC35 II.

Works consistently with all devices that I need. Excellent noise cancellation along with comfort.

I have the Bose QC45 primarily for the call and work travel purposes. Use the QC earbud II for the gym and when I am out of pocket.

One not dived into headphones for a long time. Looking to the Google buds pro because of Android phone. Good to see a positive on hear... See what I did?...

Hope they are good for music too as well as cancelling out tube noise.

Over ear ones - I like the Bose QC 700

If you have an iPhone - In-ear ones - Beats Fit pro. They have a little wing that holds them into your ear much better in my opinion. Also, they seem to constantly be on sale.

Sony WH-1000XM4 are my daily drivers for noise cancelling headphones. and I have some other cans for music.

The sony wins against bose everytime I try to switch.

They are way better than the first generation of pixel buds. But the fit is trickier. They work for me, but my wife can't get them to stick in her ears.

Edit: they also have a third mode, in addition to noise cancelling on and noise cancelling off, that boosts outside noises (like cars, and whatever else might be dangerous).

I have the Bose QC35 and the Apple AirPod pro w foam tips. I almost never use the Bose and almost always have the apples in my pocket. Easy to use. Lightweight. Work decently well.
I have a lot of time on planes coming up this year. Contemplating taking the Bose on a few trips to try them again but they are only marginally better per my ears and a PIA to pack

Same here.  Bose.  I have the quitecomfort 1s and 2s.  You have to play with the inserts to get them perfect but I use them a lot.  Plane travel with them becomes more tolerable.

they do have a sport model that is supposed to be better for athletics.

How are EPOS or B&O?

In my experience, Clunky. They're great if you just need them at the house, sitting at your computer, not moving around much. But I travel quite a bit and NEED noise cancellation on an airplane. The Bose sets I have are as big as I want to deal with when travelling.

Cans - Beats Studio3.  I never go to the airport without them

Gym/buds - Powerbeats Pro.  As George said, not cancelling, but good isolation.  I've had the same challenge with most of the replaceable buds on other models fitting right over the years, but not with these.  They fit well and are comfortable.

Working from home at the computer will be 90% of my use.  I suppose I could buy another pair for travel?   Bose is 4 miles from my house.

I have the Bose QC35 II. Has anyone ever had a previously searched item pop up on Amazon at a discounted price? Mine showed up brand new at more than half off and I jumped.  Noise cancelation and sound are first rate. I don’t have anything to compare them to but they suit me fine.

Bose works on a roughly 24 month release schedule with these. The QC 45s released at $329 USD, but they've been as cheap as $229 on sale.

The 35s started at $349, but I got my 2nd set for $99 during a Prime day sale last year, the design is several years old now, but they're still making them new.

It just goes to show the massive profit margins on electronics.

Costco has Bose QuietComfort 45 SE for $299

It doesn't look like I can use to those for conference call though, can I?
