Popular Post Fuzz Posted February 28, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 28, 2023 I would definitely get checked out. Plenty of people have taken knocks to the head and say they feel fine, then don't wake up. No offense, but this talk of being tough and/or not wanting to foot a large bill is foolish. You. Got. Shot. In. The. Head. You have no clue what damage an impact like that can do to your brain. 13
Popular Post djrey Posted February 28, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 28, 2023 Thats just insane. Happy to hear you are ok! Very fortunate I would say. Are you confident it was a 22? Damage looks more in line with a CO2 air pistol which seems more like the crap a dumb kid would do. While bullets can certainly glance off bone at the right angle you would very likely be looking at a fractured skull at the least. Regardless, a traumatic experience, hope you are feeling better soon. I would also second that it is probably wise to be checked out. Health is worth the cost. 6
Drguano Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Very glad to hear you are somewhat okay after this. I am not a real doctor but I agree with Fuzz. Get checked out. Aside from the obvious issues of concussion or blood clots, I have seen friends who have had a blunt injury to the head experience huge personality disorders afterwards. 4
porkchop Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Truly commend your spirit. Craziest thing seen on the internet in a long time. 1
alephilmac Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Sounds like you found the slug so you know it isn't inside? That would be my biggest concern if you aren't going to the hospital. Even just go to an Urgent Care maybe though. All the best man! 1
Squarehead Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Wow,put your ego aside and get checked out.I hope you have a speedy recovery 2
El Presidente Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 You dodged a bullet Dan....well almost. The fact that you are still here is a nothing short of a miracle! Hug that family tight! Get a scan done. 3 1

Chitmo Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I’ve never been shot, but have been shot at several times and was lucky enough to not be hit. I was being shot at with artillery and rockets though, so I wouldn’t have fared as well as you if they’d been accurate. Wish you all the best with your recovery. 1
BrightonCorgi Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I know of the same event (bullet bouncing off someone's head) happening at the Hyannis Mall (Cape Cod) back in '87 during a gang fight. 2

It's not as uncommon for 22 rounds as one would at first believe. I have seen it twice in my career. In fact, I've never seen a successful killing with a 22 fired from a pistol. Sample size is one criminal defense lawyers caseload, but I suppose that just increased by 1 with this thread. Still, nothing to sneeze at. Being shot at is a terrible experience. Being hit with a round could only be more so. 1
WarriorPrincess Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 All I can say is "oh my God" I had to read your post twice before sunk in Please make sure you are OK medically just to be sure and peace of mind 3
MoeFOH Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Gobsmacked. What the...? No idea what to say or make of this... except to reiterate what others have said - hope you're ok, Dan, and do get yourself checked out. 🙏 2
Nevrknow Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Note to self: when about to get in a bar fight, get close to @BoliDan ! Hope you're good in the long term. 4

He should count his blessings! 1

hrs1 Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Glad you're doing OK - wishing you a speedy recovery 🙏
BigGuns Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Holy hell, man. That's insane. Glad you appear to be okay. I hope all is well and continues to be. I was listening to a podcast the other day and they were talking about nefarious strangers taking advantage of kind souls (paraphrasing and sparing you all the details). While I do not necessarily agree, the moral was "don't ever help anyone". Sad that that even has to be considered. 'Merica 1

TBird55 Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Going to have one hell of a headache in about 12 hours. Best to bite the bullet (😉) and go and at least get an X- Ray. Your health is nothing to take for granted. Wishing you the best. 1
BossHogg Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 😮 oh my God! Man, count your blessings. Hope everything is okay. Glad you got checked out and had the police involved 👍 Bro, smoke something nice when you get a chance. 2
Andy04 Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Is now the time to raise the question about the pros & cons of gun control (or lack of) in America? 1 1
