El Presidente Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Have any FOH'ers not had Covid? In my immediate family and friend circle only three Covid free mohicans remain (to my knowledge). Di's mum Rena and my parents. Di's mum is an Octogenarian who...let's put it mildly..."likes to party" . Mask mandate? "My arse" says Rena. Don't leave the house? "Try to stop me" says Rena. Rena doesn't exactly "minimise" her chances of Covid. She catches bus's for fun, will stop and talk to a cactus, treats the local casino like her second home. Covid? Nada. My mum and dad are a little more careful.......right up to the time that they meet Rena at the Casino for a day out. Still.....no Covid. Who here has missed infection to date? 1
Corylax18 Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 🤚 I came back from Cuba with Dengue Fever last November, but no Rona yet. I've had a few colds in the last few years, but never tested positive and never popped hot on an antibody test either.
PrairieSmoke Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Never came down with the COVID yet even though family members in the house have had it.
targa88 Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Not that I am aware of. Multiple tests during the last two years all negative.... The joys of being retired I suppose - less contact, no commuting to work, etc... Interestingly enough of the various friends in different geographic locations - only one family came down with it.
chris12381 Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 🤚 My girlfriend is a corporate flight attendant. Works 17 days on, 14 off. Does a ton of US domestic flying as well as quite a bit of flying to Europe, the Caribbean and Central/South America. Aircraft cabins, hotels, taxis, etc. Lots of opportunities to be in close proximity to lots of people. We don't wear masks. Both are vaccinated, third dose and boosted. She came back at the end of one of her rotations last October from St. Maarten with all the symptoms. Tested positive as soon as she walked in the door. We live in a very small home. Other than not sleeping in the same bedroom (which we always do when one of us is sick), there weren't many additional precautions I could take to avoid getting sick. She was down for the count for almost two full days and continued to test positive for 10 days via antigen tests. I never had any symptoms. I also took antigen tests every 48 hours while she was sick and for a few days after (there's a specific recommended number) after she tested negative. I never got it. 🤷🏼♂️ I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
Vetteman Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 I have not tested positive nor have I had symptoms that caused me to suspect I might be positive. Yet.
NSXCIGAR Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Never tested positive. Mild chest cold in Dec 2020 and mild sniffles in late 21. No idea if it was or not.
MPhillips Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Never tested positive or had any reason to test. When the entire house had Covid in 2020 I had to do most of the cooking. Made lots of chicken broth from carcasses.
Bri Fi Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Three years of close contact exposures. Never took a day off of work. Just got it last month. I’m not vaccinated and it hit me like a minor cold.
beparrish Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Haven't had it, or had any reason to think I had it. My immediate family (mother, 2 brothers, sister and niece) got it Christmas '20 when one of my brothers had unknowingly been exposed to the virus and brought it to our family gathering. But I never felt bad afterwards, and since I donate blood regularly, I never carried any antibodies until after I got the vaccine.
SpecialK Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 not had it yet... knock on wood.. I did get Influenza A last month and it knocked me on my back for a while.
Dozerhead Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 I've never tested positive. I work in Healthcare, and have been exposed multiple times, but have never caught it...yet. I'm sure my luck will run out eventually. My daughter had the Delta variant a couple of years ago but her symptoms were fortunately mild. I had a nasty spell of bronchitis last May and figured my luck had ended, but mult negative tests proved otherwise.
TMan1 Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Thankfully in the process of getting rid of it for the first time as I write this! I don't think I have it that bad, but it's been 11 days of misery so far! Needless to say, a cigar really does not really appeal to me at the moment for some reason 😟?!?! Figure at least maybe another week before that.....
Michael303 Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Wow I figured most everyone would have had it by now. My whole house has had it twice and I'm not sure I know anyone that hasn't. We did our best to get back to normal living, as best we could, since mid '20 though.
Namisgr11 Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 Another who's never come down with it. Also retired, starting Jan 1, 2020, and so was able to reduce potentially problematic contact situations during the 'surge' periods in our community. Thrice immunized with the original, and a fourth time late last year with the version targeting Omicron, and properly wearing a high quality mask when called for indoors. It's especially important that I'm vigilant, as my wife is immunocompromised from her cancer treatment and a stem cell transplant (that got her into remission), and she gets sick more easily than she used to and is affected more strongly. My cigars are smoked outside and not at our local cigar bar. 1
MrBirdman Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 Never tested positive. Asymptomatic is always a possibility. The closest I’ve come in terms of symptoms without testing negative was in February 2020 - had what I thought was a moderate cold with a dry cough, which is an uncommon symptom for me when I get sick. Obviously I only suspected Covid in retrospect. It’s very possible, if still less likely than another virus - I was collecting ballot signatures for the 2020 elections every day in late Jan/early Feb, in public places and door to door. Fortunately my illness came right after the end of that period. Having lost family to COVID I don’t relish the thought of having been a superspreader, even if I couldn’t have known about it.
MoeFOH Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 Negative here thus far... as far as I'm aware . Only had one instance that warranted testing. 🤞

Cabbie Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 As per everyone else, I've been tested multiple times, I was an essential worker throughout the pandemic, I've been sick with normal colds and sinus infections and stuff, but I haven't had covid.
Ken Gargett Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 touch wood, not as far as i am aware. fully vaxxed. seem to have had everything else. had two serious flu/whatever doses last year, 2nd half of the year. tested negative during the first one but it was the fairly basic test. didn't bother to test 2nd time. not much fun but not that serious. quite possible either or both were relatively mild doses of covid. what was interesting to me was that after the spell in intensive care for blood clots 15 months, when i went back to the specialist for the clearance, a month or so later, he asked if i had had covid. i said no. his response was, well, as far as you are aware. asked him what he meant. he said that so many people, especially if vaxxed, got doses so mild that they did not even realise it and others got doses that just seemed like the flu or a cold. way more of us had had it but not known this. but being vaxxed reduced symptoms and hence so many were positive without knowing it.

DOYLE Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 With an abundance of caution and some luck I've managed to stay COVID free so far. Crossing my fingers it stays that way,.
Hammer Smokin' Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 many people, including those in this very thread, have had it....and just didn't know it. 1

Assuming and guessing I see. You know what they say about assumptions. Covid, Flu, Cold free since 2019. While avoiding it to this very day by working at home and using cigar smoke as a constant replant to others wanting to be around me, I did volunteer for a week spread over 2 months at a covid testing site, I work in non-clinical for a hospital Forced "volunteerism" . I was the person that collected personal info when they pulled into the site in the cars. Most everyone sick, half had masks. Never got sick.
