El Presidente Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Your 2023 Relaxation Protocol? Let's face it.....there is a fair bit to get wound up about these days if you let it get to you What is the one or two things that you are doing that completely destresses you? Share the wisdom.
Popular Post HarveyBoulevard Posted January 18, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 18, 2023 1. Crossfit workout of the day…every day. No phone. No work. No wife. No kids. Just me time. Occurs somewhere between 5am and 8pm daily. 2. Cigar of the day…every day. No phone. No work. No wife. No kids. Just me time. Occurs somewhere between 8pm and 9pm daily. 3. 8 hrs sleep every night. These three things make it possible to go hard all day from 5am feet down to 9pm feet up. 12
Popular Post shokao Posted January 18, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 18, 2023 1. Read stoicism related material; practice stoicism; 2. Crossfit (3x/week) / Walking (3x/week) / Running (1x/week); 3. Learning new languages: Italian (already started), French (waiting the new class to start); 7
Popular Post dominattorney Posted January 18, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 18, 2023 Lift weights, though I've been struggling this year with nagging injuries so I think I need to replace the split jerk with a more knee friendly alternative after the right knee heals. My OHP has gone up though and I can do 200 pull-ups a session so there's that, until my rotator cuff gives out.... Golf in the warmer weather whenever I can. Either a quick 2.5 hour round by myself before work on Friday at first light or whenever there's a free afternoon. Reading, either contemporary philosophy, William s burroughs, or science books. I am trying to teach myself Rovellis covariant loop quantum gravity but the math is hard. Planning how to sue people who annoy me. That's different than my job, where I sue people who injure my clients. It oddly relaxes me to figure out how to sue state officials who are screwing up my local area to try to come up with a way to fix things. Duhhh, cigars. Usually Friday afternoon when it's cold out I hit the lounge and read until my friends show up. Then it pretty much devolves into an 8th grade gym locker room but boy is it fun. Despite the nerdy activities referenced above I'm really a perverted 8 year old at heart. Fart jokes rule. 5 1
Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted January 18, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 18, 2023 Smoking cigars. Trip planning. I must have been a travel agent in a previous life or something, because I spend so much of my time planning trips, and I absolutely love doing it. It completely relaxes me. Reading about new places, looking at the pictures of the hotels, the excursions, etc. Even following the airline prices, and figuring out the upgrade system, is fun for me. Friends and family just don’t get why I do it all by myself when I can just have a travel agent do it, but I love it. There is never a time I am not planning a trip, it’s like a compulsion for me. I am planning 2 trips right now. And I learn so much in the process. For instance, Montenegro isn’t anywhere near where I thought it was. 😂 8
Popular Post Capn_Jackson Posted January 18, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 18, 2023 Workouts. I try make it to the gym three times a week, at least. In addition, I have a long walk around the neighborhood 2 or 3 times a week. I also go ice skating at a local ice rink, for an hour at least once a month. Cigar time. A few afternoons a week, I sit down on the porch and light up some of the finest tobacco known to man. Cooking. I cook at least two of the meals every week, and it helps me shed the stress of the day. Number puzzles. I’m a nerd for number puzzles. Math was my second best subject after music, and I still keep those math skills sharp. Usually I do some with my morning coffee, and sometimes also before bed. Music. I teach about Music history all day, which is a subject I enjoy (far more than my students, of course), but I take time to play a little Classical piano, or rock drums, or practice classical guitar, at least a few times a week. 5
Lamboinee Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 1) Ultimate "Lazy-Fitness" routine: I sit in the hot-tub for about 25 minutes and let the jets work the tension out of my back. Then I hang upside down on my Teeter inversion table for a few minutes and stretch. 2) Cooking: I just got the newest version of the America's Test Kitchen Cookbook. I love their recipes and they always turn out great! I find the process of cooking allows my mind to focus on something other than work while still feeling "productive". This year I plan on learning how to cook more Latin and Asian dishes. 3) Reading magazines NOT on the internet. 4) NOT using my phone. I really need to start working-out again. A good fitness regimen is probably the best thing I could do for my mental and physical health.....My flabby body (i.e. Moobs) has started to jiggle when I brush my teeth or put on a pair of socks. yikes. 1 1

Me included, but one thing is the real prime mover to relaxation... 🍷 I don't agree with Hillary Clinton much except for the need for occasional "Chardonnay Therapy". 2
Popular Post jakebarnes Posted January 18, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 18, 2023 I had to cut out the wine and whiskey side for a bit. So refocusing on the moving side of it. In nicer weather, long bike rides are the best way to get my head right--60-100 miles capped by a strong cup of coffee in the morning is perfection. Trying to get back into running as well and set up a few half marathons to the early season calendar as something to focus on. I used to hate running, but lately find it a good time to get my head straight. 6
cnov Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Learning to surf - I'm pretty sh*the but there's something relaxing about just being in the sea, really clears the head, you're either bobbing about waiting for a wave or focusing on not drowning, very little time for much of the world's usual worries. 3

Drink maple syrup and play video games? Just don't get any syrup on the controller, it will slow down your responses in a FPS. 1 1
benfica_77 Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I can't believe spank the monkey wasn't the first thing listed....nothing like busting a nut to help relax All joking aside..... Gym/Working out Meditation Quality Sleep Getting lost in a hobby 1 2
Popular Post LLC Posted January 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 19, 2023 Cigars, wine and food. Especially if I have time to cook something on the Kamado Joe. 5
NicPac Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I recently got into building adult Lego sets due to my 5 year old being obsessed. It’s incredibly relaxing and melts away the stresses of the day. I shoot film photography both 35mm and 120. I love the delayed gratification of it. The fact that I need to be intentional about what photos I take. Complete opposite of digital, for me at least Obviously cigars but goes without saying. That’s why we are all here. 1 1

Not as simple when you plan to sue the state mental hospital for failing to timely honor their statutory obligations to transport incarcerated individuals for evaluations pertaining to competency. You almost need to certify a class to avoid mooting each individual case.

In that case, you will also need to upload stuff onto pacer and pray a lot. Hope you have deep pockets those cases can bite you in the bank account! They won't even transport inmates for simple hearing in some courts, so I've heard. 1
