for those who have not been able to escape the circus that is known as the australian open tennis championship - surely the djokovic nonsense and the duplicity of tennis australia with that was enough to inflict on an unsuspecting world - we now have the self appointed court jester, kyrgios, being dubbed people's champion by many. and an absolute knob by a former opponent. which is it?

personally, i think calling him an absolute knob falls so far short of what this monumental tosser is that it is almost a compliment - and i am sure he'll take it as such.

explain to me why when djokovic hit a ball in anger/frustration and it hit a lineswoman, he was fined $10K (nothing to these guys) but ejected from the US open and yet when tosser hits a ball in anger/frustration into a child who is visibly distressed, because he hands over a racquet which costs him absolutely nothing, he is hailed a hero? perhaps we have the good old double standards that tennis australia lives by, in full swing again. as an organisation, they make politicians look like they have decency and integrity. what a bunch of utter grubs. the tournament director in the US said, "Any code violation there is a part of discretion to it but in this instance, I don’t think there was any chance of any opportunity of any other decision other than defaulting Novak, because the facts were so clear, so obvious... He hit the ball recklessly, angrily back and taking everything into consideration, there was no discretion involved.” Here, we hold parades for the bloke.

as far as i am concerned, you hit rock bottom when a kiwi shows ten times the class as an aussie and when you find yourself not just agreeing with the kiwi but actively hoping like hell he beats the aussie.

kyrgios has continually embarrassed himself, his family and his country. his conduct on the court is a disgrace and would have had others banned. as someone said, he has introduced tennis to bogans. that is terrific and i'm all in favour, but not this way. getting the crowd to abuse the opposition? as the kiwi said, if it happened in reverse, krygios would be the first one screaming blue murder. he has turned tennis into pro wrestling. and being enabled by the spineless tennis australia.

i was once someone who never missed a game, would watch wimbledon all night, has travelled down to melbourne many times to watch the aussie open. now, between the knob and the useless tennis australia, the sooner someone takes this tournament away from us the better.

so i guess you know which way i am voting.

Wow. He can sing his own praises all day long. I take back anything and everything I said in a previous post about this flog . What a tosser  DVU_NICK_COMMENTS_202201301744_1596.mp4

the best man won............literally          As for Kyrgios.  people need to understand the random/odd current state of society.   you could advertise "dog shit in a perspex box .....

Well he certainly has more popularity losing than he had when he was winning ..and I am talking singles matches. I would still like to see him put a season together without excuses and behaviour problems. A shame really with so much raw talent going to waste. And even more so that he will probably be remembered as being a dick rather than a champion tennis player with class.

I cant spend anytime watching him. If he’s on, I’ll watch something else.

And further more , I can't believe what I just saw in the men's final. Literally stunned and amazed. One more point, one more game, one more set. What an amazing feat , If you had to choose someone to  fight for your life , you would hard pressed to go past Nadal. The very best on and off the court. What a thrill it was watching such an amazing human tonight. That is what people pay for , especially in times like this . Champions like Nadal give people inspiration he gives people hope and something to dream for . Tonight he showed the world what he is made of . What a super star.

I’m not a tennis fan and I know Nadal is class. I saw the highlights this morning, looked like a great turnaround.

he is front and centre in the odd world in which we find ourselves,  where borderline personalities give themselves 10 out of 10, seemingly blind to the fact that the rest of humanity look on in horror.  right now Kyrgios, Djokovic and Boris Johnson are very much surfing the same wave of effluence.

Kyrgios is a boil on the human condition, people will turn up to see if that boil will swell and grow/pop........that is not a positive affirmation of the boil, rather a damning comment on the nature of society.    People used to get their rocks off to watching people hang int the market square.........it's more a comment on rank condition of society/boredom, than being entertained.

Go Rafa

sadly the boil thinks everyone is there for it.

leaving aside political inclusions - every country could provide contenders - as much as djokovic is a complete dill, i've never seen him act with such utter disregard for others (just horribly misguided re vax/masks etc) in the same way as that toxic pestule kryios. i think djokovic thinks he is right - has the usual entourage of idiots telling him so (which does not mean that he should have been let in, for an instant, or that he shouldn't have been kicked out - but tennis australia clearly misled him into believing he would be okay). kryios just festers. a thousand times worse for me. and at least djokovic has made the absolute most of his talent. something kryios will never be accused of.

as an aside, my mate who was one of the three judges who kicked djokovic has had the nickname, 'doc', all his life. in melbourne, i'm told that is now 'doc-evict'.

worth noting (and the last thing i want to be is leading the djokovic cheer squad) that djokovic was one of the first to congratulate and praise nadal. meanwhile, the pestule is busy dumping on his opponents and claiming how much more important he is than barty (that would be the same barty who has three individual grand slam titles while pestule has zero). the great shame in this is that tennis as australia and the tournament director are such jellyfish that they didn't default him when under the rules he should have gone. too spineless. nearly as much of a national embarrassment as the carbuncle.

It all boils down to class.  A many number have raised their hand to be considered to be "The GOAT" but what does that even mean?   it means you have:

-Vanquished/overcome your opposition

-Handle and pacify the press, with class and style

-Been a leading light and standard setter for the younger generations etc.

-Retire at the top of your game....reputation intact

This is level of greatness that I don't think Djokovic will ever understand

I like that Agassi moved and changed and learned and became a role model. Think Nick K went past the point of no return a while ago and is trying to play the public sentiment and be the showman. Bit upset I went to bed after the 3rd set last night. Thought Rafa was gone. What a champ! I prefer not to comment on Novak, not a fan. Can't believe some of these tennis players. And I'm talking about Medvedev here. It's as though they are on another planet or something. What does he expect from an Aussie crowd? Of course they will cheer for Rafa. He is well liked, especially in Aus. Why get upset when the crowd cheers errors? We don't owe him a living the knucklehead. FFS, embrace it, laugh at it. Why waste energy in 30+ heat? It just goes to show you how juvenile and not switched on he is. He'll say, he was playing the crowd. Nup, lost again. Tell it walking bozo. Ha ha!

So Nadal hits the 21 Slam mark before Novak. Must be frustrating for him.

You guys take Kyrgios too seriously. He’s a tennis player more by accident than by choice and he would rather play basketball if it weren’t for the $$ he makes from prize money as well as endorsements he earns. Where does it say in the tennis rule book you have to behave a certain way or be a role model for kids or fit a particular mould that appeases everyone’s sensibilities as well as  everyone’s expectations?
Remember the original ‘Superbrat’ McEnroe ?You cannot be serious!! This was back in the 80s! for Gods sake..

Remember Maria Sharapova and her shrieking/grunting, you needed to have to turn the sound down on the tv to watch her. Pete Sampras? boring as hell, like watching paint dry, and yes, the one true KNOB The knob of all knobs, the deported and departed, NOVAX Djokovic..
Kyrgios is just a young and immature Aussie Larrikin that enjoys taking the piss and is just having the time of his life..

He puts bums on seats Ken,  sorry some of the bums are not quite to your taste..

True, but you can call a grub a grub.

Loudmouths are loudmouths. Grubs are grubs. Dickheads are dickheads.

The difference between McEnroe and Kyrios?  Kyrios can't make it in the big boy pond. He plays in the doubles kiddy pool and pretends it is the adult pool.  He lacks the discipline to be a contender and so plays on the periphery making his money as the village idiot, the court jester of the travelling circus.  It works for him. He has worked out it is the only way he can garner the attention required for a perpetual underperformer to stay relevant.
