I was speaking to friends in Havana today who echoed the thoughts in this article.

The Govt needs to open up and ask for help now. Stop the duplicitous bullshit. WHO/UN/Red Cross/DWB needed to be on the ground back in May. Spain/France/Canada/UK/Russia/China need to convince Diaz and Co.

The US needs to tool the embargo down (even temporarilly) and offer help now. Finger pointing and the blame game can be put off for a month or three.

From various sources, people are dying in their hundreds if not  thousands daily.

The People of Cuba Need Help

HAVANA TIMES – Cuba needs help. This is not a media campaign. It is not a “soft coup,” nor a creation of “mercenaries” or “cyber-combatants.” It is not merely the concern of civil society and the Government. Cuba urgently needs, in capital letters, all possible assistance, regardless of beliefs, ideologies, fears, prejudices and deeply entrenched animosities.

Amen. Politics be damned. Everyone's! No one cares who is in charge when your kids can't eat or get medical help. When it comes down the basic necessities we all want the same things.

I wish we could establish all of those things for everyone FIRST before we trotted out the old " Mines bigger than yours" crap.

I disagree . People do care who is in charge when families are starving. The starvation is the result of shitty leadership.
is the Cuban government asking for vaccines that are proven to work? Nope.

hopefully they wake up.

Exactly ^^^

There are so many other countries that can assist and be beneficial, even without the USA involvement. The Cuban Gov’t needs to swallow their pride and seek assistance.

I don’t know why the US is always brought up. Cuba gets plenty from the USA and other countries as well. The people are starving because of the regime. El Cangrejo(Rauls grandson) was in a lavish wedding this week with great food, great drinks, great cigars, and designer clothes. All while the people starved.  I guess you can do that when you reign over a country with 11 million slaves. If the USA lifts the embargo temporarily, do you really think that will help the people in need? It will def help the people who don’t need the help…

There's just zero coverage on the news, not a single mention in the 37 top news stories on our news, yet these are amongst some of the top stories that are being covered.

We talk about getting the politicians we deserve, do we get the media we deserve too?

Just focus on the people for 3 months. Forget the government.Take up that fight again shortly. Focus on the humanitarian tragedy.

Here in the USA the mainstream media is not elected by the people like politicians. If they were we would have voted their biased arses out of a job a long time ago. What can/do you do? Except ignore them?

Just curious. Does Cuba have a COVID vaccine? And where did it come from? Made by Cuba? Forgive my ignorance on the matter.

You can become a billionaire, buy the media outlet, and fire all the staff.    Other than that fuggedaboutit.

I agree the Cuban people need help. I have several family members who live there and the situation is sad. The government won't accept help and wants to pretend they've got it under control. The US is willing to help if it goes directly to the people which is doubtful. They've taken everything, stolen everything my family owned and left the people without hope. I am thankful my family left when Castro took over and I was born in the US. It is sad to see family members still living there on social media and the suffering they are going through. This protest recently was the probably the biggest since the revolution. Cubans here in Florida are really stirred up.

Good morning my dear friend ... Look at this is a food module that the government is giving away to quell future demonstrations .... hunger, the shortage of medicines were what caused the July 11 demonstrations ..... .
It's sad 😔 despite needing it, they are crumbs ...

Pasta, bag of beans, sugar and rice. Keto would be tough with these supplies!
