I had asked in a previous post about smoking to many Habanos, a lot of suggestions mostly to keep the quantities low and not abuse our smoking privileges.  So I did not listen, I kept on Smoking 1 to 2 Cigars a day. Last Saturday I went all the way and smoked 3 cigars in 1 day. Sunday I woke up with the worst Sore Throat. Of course one gets all nervous, and starts asking and googling symptoms. Always the first symptom is "Sore Throat"

After Panic Mode steeped in and then out. I remembered in the past having this same Throat Discomfort in the past when I over smoked in Las Vegas for those Crazy nights when I could stay away for 24 hours. A friend of mine sent me this video from a Cuban Doctor. So just to be sure I took several of these Salt Gargling, used Himalayan Salt. Drank several (Ginger, Onion, Garlic and Lemon Tea) and Chicken Soup. Went to Sleep and woke up much much better with close to no discomfort.

So the Advice I want to give you is not to overdo it in these Stay at Home Times. Since a lot of times we are bored, we open our Humidors look at our Beautiful Habanos Collections and we start salivating and we can't only smoke one, we have to have 2 or 3. So in these weird CoronaVirus times, I think the best would be that we limit our consumption. Since take it from me, the feeling that one could be infected is not worth the extra joy that one or two extra Cigars would give us. As for me, I will give my Throat at least 10 days of Smoking Rest, it will be very hard but just think it would be for the best.

What do you average a day? More now with the isolation?

I don't like smoking cigars back-to-back so I need a little time in between to cleanse the palate. But I would say I'm good for at least 3 a day. Some days 4, some days 2. That would be smaller cigars of course. 1 large, 2 small or 4 small. Or 2 large, 1 small.

So I guess a slight exaggeration but certainly 3 would be minimum to be at least satiated.

I often wonder if those folks who smoke 3+ cigars a day inhale?

No taste buds in your lungs so no reason to inhale and lots of reasons not to inhale.

I don't know how you could smoke multiple large format cigars in a day.

I remember an interview with Michael Jordan where he said that he would smoke multiple Hoyo Double Corona per day.  I think he said he averaged 6 cigars per day overall. I would get sick with that volume.

When I smoked indoors I would do 2 a day once in the Am and again in the PM.  Since I'm no longer able to smoke indoor. It's once a day now usually in the evening, but there are times when I want that morning puff

Michael Jordan is a freak of nature, mentally and physically. Guess he likes to show cigar smokers he's can put us in the ground too ?

I do not.  I retrohale maybe 10 times throughout a cigar to get flavors and do it so at certain points in the stick, but 2-4 sticks a day and I don't inhale or want to on purpose.

I usually say that I don't inhale, but I think I actually do. ?. I retro almost every pull. Some smoke has to make it down there.

LOL.. I'm the last person that will argue that with you.  I know some definitely gets down there.  I try to limit the retrohale to only 10-15 times a stick because I feel that the more times you do it, the more the smoke will break down the receptors in your sinuses/nasal passage that allow for more taste and smell.  Not just with cigars, but in life IMO.

Michael Jordan is a legend and athletic freak.  For home games in Chicago, he's famous for smoking through a Partagas Lusitania in his Ferarri on his way to the stadium to stay relaxed on his commute from Lake Forrest.   Amazing feat of athleticism.

I’ve been home for three weeks and haven’t smoked any. I just got over a cold right around the time CV took off in LA. Had a bad cough. So I’m really hesitant to smoke since sometimes I have an irritated throat the next day. I don’t want to panic the next day. Add to the fact it’s allergy season for me. So i sometimes wake up with a small sore throat on occasion when allergies are bad anyway.
