El Presidente Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 I saw that a member has put one up for sale on ebay. When they were first released, we were selling new copies for $85 USD. There was screaming in the streets What dizzying heights have they reached in terms of price? What would be the average for a new and a used copy? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/An-Illustrated-Enclyopedia-of-Post-Revolution-Havana-Cigars/163854273441?hash=item262679cba1:g:rfUAAOSwdFtddiV0
Popular Post NSXCIGAR Posted September 10, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 10, 2019 Looks like one in good condition is about $700 and one in excellent condition is about $1,000. Been the same for a few years. https://www.amazon.com/Illustrated-Encylopaedia-Revolution-Havana-Cigars/dp/3980930823/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2ANHE5ZLGG938&keywords=min+ron+nee&qid=1568150713&s=gateway&sprefix=min+ron+nee%2Caps%2C208&sr=8-1 Amusing that when one searches for Min Ron Nee only @nino's picture comes up...I'm starting to think one and the same... 5
JohnS Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Haha...a lot more than $USD85 these days. On eBay it would go for $UD650 to $US1200. On Amazon, it's currently listed for $USD700 to $USD1500. One retailer has listed it for $USD5000! ?
chris12381 Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 I sold a copy several years ago for $650 to a buyer in Japan. My girlfriend yells at me about it a few times a year. She loved looking at the photos but I was given a Spanish PDF version so...whatever.
Cayman17 Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 At least $750. That’s what a guy on another forum who no longer smokes wanted for his copy, citing EBay prices.
Sudzdaddy Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Mine’s in great shape. Haven’t cracked it in years, but at this point wouldn’t part with it, regardless of the offer. ? 1
Chef Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 I heard an updated version is being released. Maybe just a rumor. If true, though, I’d wait for that one. Although, I can see an original release being a collector’s item. All the work involved certainly worth more than $85.
SenorPerfecto Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 In good shape, in English, with dust jacket? A grand, all day long.
Lotusguy Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 German copy just went for about $250 on FB...
Derboesekoenig Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I'll never get rid of mine. I want the 2nd edition! 2

You don't even really need to speak Spanish to understand the Spanish PDF version either. A lot of the language is pretty similar throughout the book. It's pages and pages of stuff like "Fortaleza media. Un puro muy suave", etc. I pull it up on my phone and browse it all the time.

Don't need to but I do. ? Also has the benefit of being searchable.

Ken Gargett Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 i remember the guy on our first trip showing us this new book. i have a squillion books and am a sucker for a good book. i have a memory of paying $70 or $75 (might have been $85 but they were more likely dudding rob). love the book. mind is very well used so it would not be a mint condition copy but in reasonable shape. if someone offered me a grand, you would have to think about it - silly money - but i know if i did sell it, i would really regret it. but such silly money... 1
BrightonCorgi Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Has anyone here actually paid $600+ for one?
NYMets01 Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Speaking from a point of inexperience never having seen a copy, but....can someone explain why these books command such prices?

It is the finest book on post revolutionary cuban cigars ever written. The scale and execution of the undertaking just makes you tip your hat. It is a masterpiece. 4 1

jay8354 Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Damn, I am sitting on a gold mine. When I first dive into this black hole of a hobby, I did it with gusto. I wanted to learn more and I believe MRN first edition was being spoken about in the cigar circles when it first came out. I remember that the book was not cheap compared to others of its kind. But I bought it anyway, after some research and the respect that was given to MRN. I like to keep my books as mint as possible and will never sell this book in my lifetime. It is still used today, when I can't be bother to get onto the internet to confirm details. I would love to see the 2nd edition and how it compares, given the price difference of the two books when they were first published.

Coloniales Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 I wonder when the second edition, which sooo very nearly came out, in its Bamboo case will be launched. Some of us paid deposits, and 100%+ got the money back when the launch was postponed. Full credit to MRN. Luckily my copy of the original has the co author Adriano's signature, if you got really lucky you and a few were, MRN's signature. Keith. 1
