jcorona Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 I've only smoked one or two of these a long time ago, and don't remember the flavor profile. A box of 25 is cheap, but would like to hear your thoughts on these before I buy. Worth a box purchase? sweet spot in terms of age?
nKostyan Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Smoke now box UTE Jun 2016. Very similar to aged Partagas Shorts, except for one taste element. Three year aging makes it soft and tasty. They are not popular, so in the shop stocks it often get a little aged.
RDB Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 I think a good one of these can compete with any other PC out there. I’ve not had older than a few years, but I find the young ones rich and delicious.
Popular Post 99call Posted August 1, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 1, 2019 To me they are wonderful. A morrish slightly salty/sweet roasted chestnut flavour. Rye bread, light Cocao, and Coffee. One of the most difficult blends to unpick in terms of flavour I find. One of my favourite cigars to sit, and try and work out. Construction is excellent, and they are super trustworthy. Would always buy them over Monte 4's 7
IanMcLean68 Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Tends to fly under the radar likes the Perlas, but both are good cigars, esp. with a few years age on them. Really do enjoy the slight floral note you get in aged examples. I miss the lonsdales. 1
Thirds Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 I had my first yesterday and it won’t be my last. It was 2017 and that floral note was very evident. Really enjoyed it. 1
SCgarman Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Very good underrated bargain PC that is very consistent. Doesn't have the punch a Monte 4 has. More subtle smoother flavor especially with several years of age.
Astar20 Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 My favorite PC I have a box from 16 and I'm kicking myself for blowing through it so fast! Need to find another box!
Islandboy Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Got a PSP box of SOM May 16. So far so good, but still waiting for them to blossom into the greatness everyone raves about, and I’ve encountered several tent pegs.

True, they are usually rolled towards the tighter end (which I like), but never so much that I ran into serious issues. To the OP, here's some additional reading from an older thread that might be of interest: 1
BoliDan Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Yup, good box to buy if you're after PCs. I don't find any reason to age them unless you have excess and just want to do it for science.
Akela3rd Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Very good cigar I'd say. Similar to the Monte 4 but has its own distinct earthiness. Construction seems never to be an issue either. Ages nicely and hits it's stride at the 3 year mark to my taste. Sent from 47171 Lempo 1
jackupster Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 I like most of the PC's and the RG is no exception. Great value and also they are good for friends that dont smoke often. I dont mind handing a mate a $5 stick even if he doesn't finish it. Cocoa, nutty and graham flavors from the box I have currently.
