benfica_77 Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Mine was this passed Friday after a long week at work and with upcoming wedding related events on the weekend I decided to get some me time in. Tried to smoke a PSD 4 box code BUP AGO 17. No matter what I did it would stay lit and horrendous construction, had to over puff on it and it ran crazy hot to help correct it. Eventually I gave up in the 1/3. When you get a dud do you go back to the humidor and grab another or do you just call it quits?
Bri Fi Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 BRC EBM OCT 17. Tried smoking it while driving. Tunneled like no other. I have my desktop humidor set at 69 and I think it’s just too high for CC. I’ll have to start pulling out of my wineador that’s set at 65. 1
rascalmonkey Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 a Connie A that was like a lead pipe + 20 mins of gouging and tunneling it with a PerfecDraw didn't help one bit
lovethehaze Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Undercrown By Drew Estate Churchill Maduro worst tunnel ever. Totally unsmokable. Was disappointed b/c I really like the Liga Privada no 9 series. Smoked Saturday on the golf course and gave up after recutting and same result. I smoked an Olivia Hellion Devils due next which is a really good cheap smoke for the golf course.

earthson Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 This entire shxt box of MOE OCT 14 Fonseca no1. I got it right around the time they were put on the discontinuation list, but before they tweaked the blend. All but one has had a flameproof wrapper. The construction is excellent (many having that dimple present when you cut the cap), but the ash is very black, even now, leading me to assume the wrapper was grown without the proper nutrients that ensure a good burn (I believe I read magnesium was the culprit). I couldn't in good conscience trade or sell them off and I don't believe in wasting cigars, so I try one every few months. The first third is usually tolerable, but when the troubles start, I toss it and grab something different.
VRATJV07 Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Within the last two weeks I had a Partagas Lusitania and a H Upmann Royal Robusto that were plugged and un-smokable. Had to put them down and go back to the humidor for another cigar.
El Presidente Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 D4 MSU MAY18. Just wouldn't stay lit. I don't think there is a more frustrating thing in the cigar world. With a plugged cigar you at least know why. 2
JohnS Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 A Montecristo No.1 sadly, especially since I've had a spate of glorious ones during the past 18 to 24 months. This was underfilled and subsequently got hot and bitter towards the end of the first third. Nothing could save it but I smoked through it....very, very slowly!

Same things with my PSD 4......while i was grumbling at the cigar I kept saying this is why they say Hecho a Mano and had to explain to the Mrs. what that meant.
Bucky McSwensen Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Got a 50 cab of hdm dc. Let them rest. Was super excited! No draw. Tried every possible remedy but useless. I shall let them rest a year. Hope they age well because I cant imagine reaching for one anytime soon
clickbangdoh Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Funny, my issue cigar was a Hoyo DC from a dress box. Wouldn't draw worth a damn, seemed like a dowel rod for the last two thirds. Chopped it in half and smoked the first half, wind tunnel and underfilled (!). After finishing that unraveling mess, decided to try smoking the other half and amazingly it smoked ok, guess the cut losened it up or something. have had others from this box that smoked fine, and this one had a week of dry box time, sometimes you just never know until you smoke them.
MD Puffer Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Been about a month since I had a stinker. Had a couple of RASS tunnel incredibly perfect. Nothing but ligero. The concept of blending really hits home when that’s the only part of the cigar that’s burning. Sort of like listening to one of your favorite songs in hi-if. You know what to expect and enjoy it. Then you hear it in mono and it’s incomplete and unsatisfying (but not bad). They were unsalvageable. Smoked them as long as I did just to get to know the ligero better. The others have been fine- just those two. Everything else has been hitting on all eight cylinders since then though.
alloy Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Last one was a LGC MDo2. Not ten peg but very firm. Still was smokeable. Otherwise, nada. I've been very lucky.
Chef Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 MSU JUN 18 Partagas Lusitania. Rolled so tightly. Like sucking an under blended milk shake through a cocktail straw.
havanaclub Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Psp RyJ Churchill OBM DIC 16. The box has been terrible, fireproof wrappers, tunnelling you name it. I have given a few away and they had the same issues. I only hope a few in the box will be ok. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
slowsmoke Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Just today. Tried my first RYJ Churchill. Tunneled beyond all repair, had to pitch it. Major bummer. From a HQ quarter box ESL May 18
BoliDan Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 RASS REG MAY 18. Full of volado and the biggest brick I've ever had. I'm pretty sure this was made with 100% binder tobacco just to piss me off. I used my perfect draw in 4 spots and it still felt like sucking on an egg in order to get any draw. It had no flavor when I did get any smoke. So, it hurt my mouth, took double the time to smoke and it tasted like nothing. This is my only bad box out of my last 20 purchases, it's so sad. I'll be reviewing one of these next week. Hopefully a good one this time.
SmokyFontaine Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 RyJ Short Churchill. Most disappointing attempted smoke of my life. Draw was pretty tight, but it kept like...crackling. numerous re-lights, tunneling, then the damn thing erupted. Like, it didn't crack, it basically exploded. Ripped through the wrapper and binder. Now I'm getting pissed. PerfecDraw the thing out of rage, cut it in half, try re-lighting, and it wouldn't stay lit. I finally mumbled a few very hateful things about the roller's mother, threw the cigar across my backyard, then retrieved it so I could watch it burn in my firepit. I have 9 more of these things so I'm putting them away for 6mos before trying again. If that one is a dud too? I'm kicking Romeo right in the balls! 2 2
dicko Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Bloody sunday! A PL picadores that was underfilled and bitter. I hope the rest of the box is not underfilledSent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
Rrm7284 Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 a Connie A that was like a lead pipe + 20 mins of gouging and tunneling it with a PerfecDraw didn't help one bitHad the exact same with a Mag50 this weekend, total bummer 1
peteando Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 A RyJ Exhibition #4 that tasted as if dipped in pine-sol, and with a wrapper so thin it began to flake apart upon the lightest handling. Also I had no idea candela wrappers had made a return, but I got a 3 pack of edmundos that were Kermit the frog green baseball bats.
shippers Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Trinidad La Trova - tried and tried but was like trying to draw through a piece of solid dowel. Had to begrudgingly pitch it. Prompted me to buy a PerfecDraw and so far it had managed to rescue any plugs... the thing is amazing!
