I think the real heat on these is due to the value. The price is great and the product has amazing reviews. This makes for a very popular cigar.

Maybe the revamped look? I'm not sure I've never tasted them, but I ordered a box so I could see what the hype is about.

It’s a good price for the size and a new release (not talking about secondary pricing here).

I prefer it by a very great deal over the QdO 50.

They are also a flipper’s dream, given that they go for well under $10/stick in Cuba but for $16/stick on the secondary.

My recommendation: don’t pay secondary prices. They are becoming more and more available and you already missed the original release by over a year anyway.

So the hype is based on look?

I wonder how much of the hype is attributed to the flavor profile. Has the blend changed on these in recent releases?

The common thing I've heard is the blend has not changed...

But every once and a while I'll read someone reference a new blend for QDO.

Let me know, last review I read gave it an 87, I see people on here like them, it's a great community so I thought I'd ask. I was the first viewer today, saw them, typed the email, deleted the email. I decided not to buy blind.

No worries I’ll gladly do a review on them need to taste on initially then see how they develop.

That's not what buying blind means lol. The hype has less to do with quality and more to do with quantity. No one can get them. Those that do rave about them, then that makes them even harder to get. I have 2 10 CT boxes of 50's, a single of the 54's, and 2 boxes of the Coronas. I've only tried the Corona, ROTT, and it was great...

nothing like a re-packaging of a old smoke to get the blood flowing.  remember what Habanos took out of production to make this smoke.

Only the corona had remained for the French market out of 4 total.

The QDO corona I smoked in Paris this January was excellent - not better than Monte 3 mind you, but damn good with a lighter profile that isn’t similar to another corona I can think of. There you have it: novelty. That and they’re presenting very well these days. Construction looks spot on. Can’t speak to the smoking qualities of the 50 & 54, but I would really LOVE to get my claws on a box of the coronas.

You had already missed 'em, buddy.  ?  It's like throwing chicken in a piranha tank.  ?

Love them both. Got both boxes the week they came out in Canada, boxes marked Oct 2017. Paid full pop. They were wonderful, but talking about the 50.

I do not have an issue re 50 vs 54, just as in 2010 did not have a choice over Behike 52/54/56. I find off the rack, new cigar leaves are either wonderful, or not. These are.

Have now got many boxes storing like my earlier obsession with RA 2015’s.

Me likee.

They are great sticks...for me the 54 blew away the 50 by a mile. Plus it’s a good morning; day; afternoon smoke. It’s my current fav cigar..I’m sitting on a lot of boxes and can’t wait to see how they change over time. Try one...

The 50’s have treated me well and excited to see how much better they will get with age. Does anyone see one of them smoking better young than the others or do they all need some downtime?

Gold and Yellow bands.. A nod to Cohiba, and rightfully so. The recent 50s I've smoked have a similar flavor profile to that of the Siglo III. I wouldn't be surprised if I learned that the same tobacco was used. Great value, and a very good smoke young. Haven't had one with age on it so I can't answer that question. I'm curious to that myself.

I second the similarities to Cohiba. The subtle difference I detect is a vanilla note in the QdO 50 and 54 that I've never tasted in a Cohiba.

So is the hype real and does it make the QdO 50 and 54 the definitive unanimous Cohiba Behike killer in your opinion?

No. I admit I've only gone through a box of 2016 BHK 52's that failed to impress, and a single 54 that blew my mind. My personal Behike killer is the PSE2. But this opinion likely reflects my lack of experience with Behike overall, especially in the early gravy years I've read so much about.
