Panhead
I had my first Ramon Allones SPECIALLY SELECTED and had a serious bad burn issue. I keep my humidor between 65/70% humidity. Are these cigars known to have burn issues or is this my doing? Any help would be appreciated.
Cayman17
It was too wet. If you are going to store them that high, you need to dry box for a few days (maybe 5 to 7) before lighting up.
Derboesekoenig
Try lowering to 63% or 64%, or if that isn't possible, dry box for 2 days minimum. Should fix you right up
aphexafx
Looks like 'asbestos wrapper' syndrome. ? I'm guessing it was over-humidified. About how long ago did you receive it?
El Presidente
waaaaaaaaaaay too wet. + possibly resting time? how long have they been in your humidor?
Edward7
Why is the label upside down? Where did you get this cigar? You got a bad one. RASS is one of the most dependable and consistent performers in mine and many others' experience. 70% can often be high and lots of members here go as like as 62-65 and even still, dry box to ensure the wrapper doesn't have excess moisture. How did it taste?
FOHrty9er
Check out the moisture content video by PigFish. Fascinating, and VERY helpful.
SCgarman
Lower your humidity down to 64-65 MAX. Is this a single cigar, or did you just buy a box? Either way, they need some time in the humidor to acclimate and rest. I am smoking through a 2015 box of RASS currently and they are absolutely sublime. But to get a few years on your boxes means buying more than you smoke so you have a large rotation and letting several full boxes just sit and sleep for a few years. NSXCIGAR
General consensus for many years and certainly around here is CCs should be kept at no more than 65% rH and the sweet spot seems to be about 62%, particularly if the temperature is approaching 70°. nKostyan
+ possibly resting time? how long have they been in your humidor? +1 If the wrapper is not charred, it seems the problem is: tunnels or loose fit of binder to wrapper. Prolonged acclimatization in the humidor sometimes helps the tobacco leaves to straighten inside the cigar and evenly distribute the density. Also note to the photo:the cigar ring is larger than the ring of band, it can swell from the condensate that is collected in 3/3 when there is were wet cigar or cold weather

Well, there aren't too many other options. . . So, as your resident Inspector Clouseau, my next question would be, "did you slide the band on, and if so did you drastically change the humidity?" If he slid it on, it was dry(er) when he did so, then got all plumped up. This may help us identify the culprit. You see the way my razor-sharp mind of mine works? Deductive reasoning, my friend.
Panhead
Well I didn’t expect all those replies so quick. Thank you all for the replies. I will definitely lower the humidity from now on. The ring band lossen by its self about half way down so I broke the band and just placed it on for the photo. I Initially sent the photo to Diana to ask her opinion. She told me to post it on here. I wasn’t trying to deceive anyone by putting the band on. Sorry. You guys are good. Haha. I bought the cigar as a single to try with others in January 2019. I let it calm down a couple weeks before lightning it. On a different note, I’m a disabled person from a work injury and my government won’t grant me Social Security. Therefore, I can only buy small quantities at a time. If anyone has suggestions on how to be able to buy and smoke as I go that would be wonderful. How did it taste? Smoking backwards contributes to asbestos wrapper syndrome. But I suspect it was just too wet, regardless of which end the fire started on. I've had that issue with a cab of RASS--they seemed to need a bit more time down to acclimate to my humidor than other cigars I have had. I agree that 60-65 is best humidity for your cigars, but I had that problem with RASS at 62 humidity after 45 days down. took about 90 before they evened out.

Panhead
I have been trying since 2014 to get SSD with an attorney. They say I’m to young , even with the doctors stating that I’m 100% disabled. Unfortunately I’m 46 years old. Thanks for your input Wineguy
