MoeFOH Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Just watched this flick the other day, and I was blown away! I had recently posted about Pulp Fiction and what a game-changer that film was and how real gems are hard to find these days... then, this! HOH is no game-changer, not by any means, but it's bloody superb film in my book: great acting (particularly Jeff Bridges and Ben Foster), stunning cinematography, brilliant original score (Nick Cave & Warren Ellis to the fore again), strong and witty dialogue, and a beautifully paced tempo from the outset... For me, in a crime/action drama (even as a Western), it's in the "classic" realm. Thoughts? 1
bigbwalls Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Loved it as well. Great plot, acting, direction and cinematography. When is Jeff Bridges not amazing? Reminded me of a southern ‘Heat.’ If you liked that, check out Wind River with Jeremy Renner. The movie was written by the same guy as Hell or Highwater. A very good and underrated thriller. 1

Yeah, Jeff Bridges is a legend. Have been meaning to watch Wind River... thanks for the heads-up. : )
ayepatz Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Good movie. I reckon it would make a great Jeff Bridges movie night double with Michael Cimino’s Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. 1

HOH is so great. Second the recommendation on Wind River. 1

Markspring1978 Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Great movie indeed. Wind River is good. If you like Westerns, the new movie Hostiles was decent with Christian Bale. 2
cigcars Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 My brother is crazy about The Gunfighter with Gregory Peck as Jimmy Ringo. Myself - meh
jackupster Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Good flick but not a classic. The True Grit remake was really good and more Jeff Bridges to enjoy!
joeypots Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I’ll watch it. I’d love to see another movie with a gun fight like the one in Open Range. That was some western style shooting.
Kaptain Karl Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I loved it! Was one of the best movies I've seen in the past few years. Which isnt saying much, because outside of the Marvels Universe, Hollywood has been producing larger and larger piles of shit. 1
