No it is not. The Panatelas Extra is the only RG short filler. PL Panatelas is also short filler.

So I did a video at the weekend of my top 5 Budget Cuban cigars. These are my ones, I'd love to know what would make your list?

Always enjoy your videos.

RG Perlas and PL Panetelas are, IMO, the two best values in CCs without question.

The Favoritos aren't for everyone and although they are probably the cheapest CC by weight, Quintero just isn't using top tier tobacco. Same with Piedra.

Once you get into Minutos, I actually think the Shorts are on par with all the others and at that point it's personal preference. I'm always going to reach for a RASCC or a El Principe there.

PL Panetela

RG Panetela Extra

PL Montecarlo

RA Small Club Corona

HU Hoyo Du Depute

Not necessarily the cheapest, but good value for the quality of tobacco and their consistency.

Without weighing them, I am not so sure which ones are less expensive per gram.  A small cigar may not be less expensive if you have to smoke 3 of them to equal the smoking time of a larger cigar.

Hmmm a "budget Cubans list" without Reloba, Bauza, or Coloso.
Never heard of those!

Gotcha, I was there in September and was told they were dog rough!

I smoked one of these last week.  I was told a lot of Cubans smoke them.  Just $1.00 for a bundle to Cuban residents.

The flavor exceeded what I would expect from a 4 cent cigar, but the construction didn’t.  It was underfilled, and I kept getting bits of tobacco stuck on my tongue.

Jose L Piedra Cazadores are my favorite. I smoke them often when I visit Havana.

Few years ago I grabbed a dozen packs of early 2000’s Brevas. Some of the most enjoyable cigars I’ve purchased to date. Still lots of Punch to them but oh so tasty.

Would you say they are significantly better than the other Quinteros, or are they similar?

I believe so. I think they put a little extra effort into the Favoritos. The rest of the Quintero lineup is pretty lousy outside of the Tubulares which is decent but about $4/stick, so not a good value.

The only JLP I've ever liked were the Petit Cetros, and I love them. Examples from 09-15 were much better than every other JLP and at ~$1.50/stick from many vendors were pretty close to the best value in CCs.

Since the Petit Cetros were cut you can still find them but not for less than $2+ and at that price I'll stick to $2.25 PLPs.

Those are the home populace's of Cuba's "pesos" cigars. And they are very tasty and enjoyable. I was gifted a few of those some years back and was greatly satisfied with them for they were "fine smokes"!
