El Presidente Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 My youngest son Tom is 0 for 2 attempts on his practical driving test. It is a touchy subject As someone who sees failure as a time of celebration. ( I would be a basketcase otherwise)...I put a positive spin on it. Give us your best "appropriate" saying/maxim/quote......and I will pass it on!
Colt45 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 The T can take you where you're goin' (the T is public transit in my area)
Ritch Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Took me four attempts to pass my driving test. On the last attempt 8 thrashed shit out of the motor. Almost rear ended a rolls Royce on the way to the test centre and hit the kerb on my reverse around a corner maneouvoor. All the time chatting shit to the test examiner about how it is patently clear if someone can drive or not. I somehow passed.... 1

Popular Post Ryan Posted September 11, 2018 Popular Post Posted September 11, 2018 I lost my virginity the night before my first driving test. I've never told anyone else this. I failed (at the driving test), needless to say my mind was elsewhere. I'm not sure if that's an appropriate lesson for your son Tom though! I like this one, "A person who never made a mistake never made anything." 2 1 3
Auspaul Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Next time you will get a better driving tester
Fuzz Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 "Failure is just the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently" - Henry Ford Or better yet, tell Tom that self driving cars are not that far away. In the mean time, he can make use of a government issued chauffeur... ie, take the bus.
ayepatz Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 The old maxim “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again” is beautifully illustrated by an old legend about Robert the Bruce, the famous Scottish King, who finally inspired and led the Scots in defeating the English at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. Dejected, defeated, on the run, and short on hope, the legend tells of him watching a spider, in the cave where he was hiding, repeatedly attempting and failing to start a web. The plucky spider never gives in, and eventually succeeds, inspiring Robert to carry on, and eventually win, the fight against the English. http://www.sath.org.uk/edscot/www.educationscotland.gov.uk/scotlandshistory/warsofindependence/bruceandspider/index.html “Freeeeeeeeeeduuuuuuummmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!” is another useful quote, particularly as it was an Aussie who said it. ? 2
Akela3rd Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I failed twice in my HGV lorry test. The second one was such a nightmare that on the third I just relaxed and thought "Bollocks to worrying, let's just get on with it".And passed easily. It's not the end of the world Tom, it's just a driving test. Good luck next time. Sent from my ActionMan walkie-talkie

Now there's a name I've not heard in a long time. The last I heard about Robert the Bruce was this.... Oddly enough, that was the very first scotch I ever had....

It’s an Aussie brand, released by Carlton & United. Possibly an original blend, but most likely a re-brand of Ballentine’s or Famous Grouse, or something similar. Love the David Frost endorsement, btw!

Islandboy Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 As a strong proponent for lifelong learning, failures often offer better opportunities for lessons than successes. The key is to pay attention to what matters.

You've come a long way from Robert the Bruce to Nicola Sturgeon.

hedgeybaby Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 "Keep buggering on." A maxim of Winston Churchill
bmf30180 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Another from Churchill, and my personal favorite: "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."
