SCgarman Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 Gurkha and its owner must really be insecure about their product. This isn't the first article of propaganda trashing Cuban cigars and propping up Gurkha as the world's finest cigar. What an absolute laugh. I feel sorry for my American brothers who drink the Gurkha koolaid. They are smoking overpriced dog rockets.
Fugu Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 There! Again and again I tell the guy from the gas station not to always put these gems up on the flavored-sticks rummage tray. 2

Disclamer: I have no problem with shameless self promotion of a product. I just don't buy. Like to think I am smarter than they are.....They do have an interesting marketing plan but it seems to be taking a turn to the BULL SH%T area. Good luck to them and I will continue to make my own decisions on what to smoke........

pgwdaddy Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I had one B&M owner tell me they sold really well (but not as well as Drew Estate ACID cigars?). Well, I guess to each his own. American NC smokers believe all kinds of crazy wives' tales about CCs though. We Americans are prone to believing all kinds of crazy wives tales. ??♂️Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro 1

Str8BlkCoffee Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I stopped by my B&M one day while at home and they were having a Gurkha event. The place was packed with 20 somethings clutching bags of freebies. That same night I was picking my son up from a party and passed by the shop at about 9pm and the place was overflowing, literally. Huge Gurkha banner hung outside with people spilling out into the parking lot with no one over 30 to be seen. I felt good for the owner as he is a pretty good guy and he is just running a business. I was kind of taken back by the amount of people in attendance. Gurkha? Really? <shrug> to each their own.

Peekay Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I've smoked a few Gurkha's over the years, I would never compare them to C.C's though, not ever. They are tastier than cigarettes, so this would be a much fairer comparison.

Chellams Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I’ve smoked a few ghurkas, and over all, they aren’t bad. Just not my thing. And yes, the comparison to jersey shore fist pumpers is pretty accurate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

HarveyBoulevard Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I don't think Ghurkas are any worse than a lot of other crap cigars. What gets me is ego of their company and marketing department. Don't tell me its a Rolls Royce but for me...just this once...for a limited time...its 98% off...shhhhh, just between us. What I find most ridiculous about Ghurka and why I mock them so, is because they think we are all stupid and because they think so highly of themselves. If you produce a Yugo...sell the crap out of that Yugo. Don't try to sell me a Yugo priced like a Rolls Royce...just on sale (today only...ssshhh). I am not a moron...most of the time Their motto is "If you can't beat it...bash it." 2

Or are they actually decent cigars with an imposed bad image in CC circles? Sent from my ActionMan walkie-talkie I'm not such a hater on some of their cigars, having enjoyed their cellar reserve series--aged for 5-10-15-20 years, depending on the stick. They're really pretty decent smooth NC smokes. The issue people have with Gurkha is that they place a premium on marketing--so many different weird pieces of shwag, and they have 2-3 bands a piece, and the boxes are overly elaborate, there's an impression that quality suffers as a result. I could not disagree, as they also have way too many different cigars in their catalog--many of which are unshakeable dog rockets. I just mention the cellar reserves to give credit where it is due. 1
