I'm another fan of Thomas Magnum, but going with the thoughts on casts, Higgins was pretty much equally integral. I'm a big fan of Lenny Henry as Gareth Blackstock in Chef! - at least the first season. Maury Chaykin and Timothy Hutton as Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin in A&E's Nero Wolfe mysteries were two of my absolute faves.

I'm a bit off the rail at this point, so with regards to British shows, loved Keeping Up Appearances, used to watch One foot in The Grave, Waiting For God. David Suchet as Poirot is another all time for me. Been watching Father Brown since it started.
