If you could make 1 cigar bigger from its current incarnation and 1 smaller which would they be? This new version would need to have identical flavors and development as the current stick.

I know there are already parallels across a brand that might be similar and have certain redundancies in the flavor profile... However think about keeping the flavor profile of the cigars you'd alter but making them in a format more suitable to your taste or circumstance.

I would love a smaller version of the Sir Winston. I know that Upmann spiced cream is evident across a lot of their offerings but there's just something about the SW. Problem is the time commitment to a SW. A 35-45 min version of the SW would be killer.

I would love a bigger version of the Por Larrañaga Montecarlo. The florals. The vanilla. The honey. By larger I don't necessarily mean longer. This bigger PLMC could come in handy when you can't find any boxes of SW after the go into hiding for 8 months. LOL

Would love to hear your thoughts...

Cheers all

First thing to mind: the H. Upmann Magnum 56 in corona or long corona format.

I was going to go with the Mag 56 but figured we were sticking to regular production...:P

Go nuts guys. Reg prod, EL, ER... Whatever floats your boat. A smaller Mag 56 sounds amazing. You could slap an H Upmann label on a broomstick and I'd smoke it.

I agree with the PLMC!!

33 RG is a tad too fragile for the length. Would love a 35 or 36.

Would be a well spent 70min smoke!

As for smaller cigars, I think the BHK 56, if moved to 46 or 48, would make for a nice nice cigar!

I can’t believe no one has tried to shrink the Connie A to sub-50 RG yet :) I guess 52 is tolerable at least, whereas the 56 really pushes it to my threshold.

So...
I’d “shrink” the Connie A to a 5.6x42 coronas and grow the RG Perlas into a 5x48 hermosos no. 4.

Fun question.

I’d go with a Corona Gorda of the HUHC and the RAG.

I understand the question, but I think you've kind of nailed it here.... I think that overall format has an impact on flavor delivery. Changing length / girth can certainly affect final character.

I agree that the reason certain cigars taste the way they do is their shape/size/girth. That's why I loaded the question with the above... In this cigar eutopia where you get to change these vitolas, your new cigar gets all the same development and character of its bigger/smaller former self.

If I want a SW... Well I can just smoke one. But it'd be pretty amazing if I didn't have 90 mins but could still experience all of that in a 40 min format.

Ramon Allones Club Allones EL 15 into a DC. 2 hours of that would be sick.

As far as shrinking goes I’d take a RyJ Capuletos in a minuto. All of that goodness in a nice short smoke. Mainly because I’d smoke a few a day. I find on occasion with a larger cigar I can get distracted and miss some of it, smoke to fast or two slow, etc.

Damn maybe I should shrink the RACA too. This is a utopia after all isn’t it @ElJavi76

Bigger: RASCC. Just add another 3 inches to it and I'm good.

Smaller: Trini Vigia. Take it down to a 50 RG - it's too uncomfortable to smoke, tobacco quality be damned.  And it's a very ugly cigar - the proportions are way off.

Honorable mention for an Upmann Magnum 42.

As @NSXCIGAR suggested, I'd like a San Cristobal de La Habana El Principe made longer into a Petit Corona (42 ring gauge x 129 mm) or Corona size (42 ring gauge x 142 mm). I'd like the Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo San Juan decreased because there are no Le Hoyo line cigars in the 'mid-range' left anymore. Again, I'd like something in the petit corona size or even a corona gorda size would be great (46 ring gauge x 143 mm).

Bigger: Either the El Principe or Party Short into a Laguito Especial

Smaller: BHK 56 into a BHK 46

I thought of the RASCC too for my bigger smoke. It's such a great little cigar with a ton a character for a minutos format.

I've never smoked anything from the HdM Le Hoyo line but I've been meaning to poke at the SJ specifically. Someone else suggested the Connie A which is also a geniales. How about a Petit Geniales anyone? LOL I like the idea of a bigger Principe as well.

I agree with a bigger RASCC, a PC maybe........  And will add a slightly shorter QDO corona, make a QDO PC........ hint.. hint... cough... cough....

Larger: Siglo 2 to a Double Corona

and...

Smaller: Lusitania to a PC.

As a side note, would love to see the 109 Vitola get shortened up to about 5”. Upmann 109 about 5 inches in length—yeah, I would buy 50 Cabs of those for sure!

That would be an Edmundo or Petit Edmundo.

I personally don't mind a 52 RG. I actually think the Connie A is fine as it is. The Canonazo is getting a bit much for me though. That's pretty much where I stop. Anything 52+ RG has to be < 6.0" for me, and anything 48-50 RG has to be shorter than 6.5". A Churchill really is also at the top of my range.

Now we're just creating fantasy cigars! I can't blame you. I would love to take the RGP blend into a Coronas Gordas (bring back the RGCE) or a Hermosos No. 4. Would love to have the Punch DC blend in a Robusto or Hermosos No. 4 as well. And of course the RASCC blend into anything longer--Marevas, Coronas, Cervantes.

Great call. The RA H&F 225, was pretty much as you described, and it’s a great cigar.

Would love to see more like it.

Exact cigar in a larger and smaller vitola?  I'd like to see the RASS in a corona Gorda.  Other than that I'm pretty content.
