Humidity has nothing to do with beetles. It is temperature you may be thinking of.

I wouldn't risk it. Too easy for mold to find a very happy home in your humidors at that level. Assuming a temp between 60-70 degrees.

Mold guaranteed at 80rh. Caveat emptor.

I find my humidor smells amazing at 70. But cigars smoke better at 65.

I’ve never been at the 80 mark so can’t offer experience. If I could work out how to get that much humidity in there I’d give it a shot.

So interesting you mentioned this. I've been noticing that my humidors don't smell as great as they used to and now you've clarified it for me. Since I joined FOH, I took my cigars from 69 down to 65 for aging and some to 62 for smoking. Definitely enjoying the smoking more as you say, but I do miss the stronger aroma when I crack open the humi.

Interesting find!

"84 is great for bringing cigars back from the dead, or if it's ... troubled."

Lawrence certainly has vastly more experience than I do, but I'm just gonna take his word for it on this one. I have never encountered any cigar trouble that I though 84%rh would solve.

Sounds like bullshit. That video was filmed at the Nat Sherman townhouse cigar shop in NYC. I just changed my CC humidor from 69 to 65% based on the expertise here on FOH

He may have a vast experience as an industrial smoker, but....

I know he also prefers all of his smokes to be on the "wetter" side of the RH scale. I couldn't believe he stores his cigars at 80% RH. But I guess that's just his personal preference after many many years of being a cigar aficionado. Good on him.

I keep my medicinal marijuana at 80% humidity, and I stay high, just knowing it's in the closet....:whip:

I'm not going to take advice from someone who smokes a robusto (or "Robustus" (sic)) in about 7 minutes.

I guess he never has the chance to encounter the poor burn of a cigar stored at 80+ if he's *constantly* puffing the hell out of it. It must taste hotter than hades.

I like to go higher. I like to transfer my sticks to 89% RH (90F) when ready for smoking.

80 rh isn't enough for me either. I've taken to running them under the tap then fellating it before lighting with cedar. It's about the ritual

I keep mine in the dishwasher.
