Picadores hitting it out of the park. All day every day. Love it

Do you have age on the picadores? Or recent production? I got a PSP box EOT AGO 16, beauty looking box but they have been meh at best. Not much going on. After my last one I swore I wouldn't touch them for another 6-12 months. But now I wanna try again to see if they have improved.
I know PL generally need age.

Currently on my way to the in-laws. But will let you know when I get back. To me good Picadores have an almost sweet pea aspect mixed in will the more typical PL caramel characteristics.  To me they are very pleasurable to smoke young for this reason. I think they will go very sweet and creamy in time but loving them right now

Surprised the Party D 4 is not getting more love. Wasn’t that supposed to be the “best cigar coming out of Cuba” not too long ago? My own experience with the D4 is pretty dismal, with only the SLR Regios ranking lower of the vitolas I’ve smoked on this list.

I am going to have to try the Picadores, but for me the PSD4 is really tough to beat.  They seem to be good young, and great with a few years on them. Not sure how anything could beat them. To me they are better young than even the CoRo, and for the price the PSD4 has to be my favorite.

Thanks mate. Appreciate the feedback. I will have to revisit again soon.

For me, it's the Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2. Rounding out my top 3 would be the Upmann Connie 1 and the Bolivar Royal Coronas. To be fair, there are several on this list I've never tried.

From the recent 24:24 copy, I gather they've been pretty inconsistent recently. So some people might not have gotten great examples. The D4 used to be my favorite Cuban cigar. Since I've had a chance to sample a lot more of the Habanos portfolio, I've realized I prefer sweeter, twangier flavors. That said, I still enjoy Partagas when I'm in the mood for something more savory.

3. RASS

These also happen to be the only Robusto  I own, so I’m limited by a dearth of selection and therefor experience.

I can say I feel that once the RASS get a little age they will be moving up a spot, possible 2.

Big fan of the Connie 1.  They seem to age very well.  I have a few '11s left and they are smoking great.  I'm always a fan of the SLR Regios as well.

RASS from 2011 are GREAT, 2015 not so much. I have boxes from 2016 and 2017 that look really nice, but haven't smoked any yet. Cohiba kind of the reference standard Robusto. I'm really enjoying the SLR's as well. I've got some boxes from 2013 and 2016 that are good smokes

Don't recall ever hearing that one...it is the top selling CC, but there's way too much variation and inconsistency for these to ever be likely called the best cigar coming out of Cuba. .

I've personally never liked them either. They just are such a tamed people-pleaser blend IMO. When they're well-made and balanced they can be enjoyable but I prefer the blends in the D5, D6 and E2 much more than the D4. IMO the D4 is the weakest cigar in the Serie line.

My vote for best Robusto/H4 goes to the Connie 1 as I haven't had a JL2 or a Picadores this year.

Thanks for the thread. I don't smoke enough recent-production robustos to feel qualified, but this thread will help me fix that for next time.

I'm right there with you. I really need to grab a few boxes. Only problem is that I have no more room. Time to convince the wife that I need an new cabinet. :)

Ouch...absolutely no love for the ERDM CS on the poll. I know it's not a cigar for everyone (including me) but HSA needs to step this one up. The marca's been decimated so let's not hang the only serious cigar in the lineup out to dry.

Saw this was for 2015-2017 stock after I voted, so cannot say for sure as I haven't gotten into my 2015+ stock yet.

Still, from the last decade, I'd say

RASS

Upmann Connie 1

Can't pick a third as they're too many that are good.
