Guest Nekhyludov Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 I just received a beautiful french porcelain Davidoff Winston Churchill ashtray that I was lucky enough to win in a drawing at another cigar site. It is ridiculously nice ... so nice in fact that I can't imagine ever actually fouling it with ash! Or maybe even removing it from it's leather box ... It is now the second most valuable cigar accessory I own, topped only by my cabinet humi. From the Davidoff website: This stunning large ashtray is an iconic masterpiece. The Winston Churchill silhouette is treated in gold, with hints of the Union Jack adorned on the side of the ashtray in a mix of matte beige and brilliant gold. • Holds two cigars with slightly angled cigar notches to ensure the cigars will not touch one another. • Large bottom bowl welcomes a generous amount of ashes. • Only 115 pieces made. Each ashtray is numbered by hand. • Handcrafted with excellence in France, requiring 14 craftsmen to complete the production process of a single ashtray.
Habana Mike Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Wow! Nice win! 1/2 wheel? Very nice ashtray too. Of course you must use it. That's what they're made for. Just clean it up right after so no residues develop and you'll be good. 2
gusto616 Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 What a beauty - congrats !Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
stogieluver Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Lucky you! I would use it. Just make sure you don't let a cigar's lit end lay on the floor of the ash tray, and you'll be okay. Ash won't stain the ash tray. Hot tar from the burning tobacco will.

Every time I see my heavy, glass Nat Sherman ashtray sitting on the table in my little outdoor smoking lounge, baking in the heat, or getting rained on, I surmise that I'm just not a fancy ashtray guy Maybe if I'm ever able to get an indoor smoking area set up ...
garbandz Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 14 Frenchmen to make an ashtray? No wonder Renault has left F1............ 1
PigFish Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Man, that is really nice... I too think you should use it. Just don't let some drunken clown break it... I would love that! Cheers! -Piggy
Elvis Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Wow! That really is a ridiculously nice ashtray. Enjoy!
OZCUBAN Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 What a nice ash tray, if I was you I would use it ,as that was its purpose what's the use of storing in away to look at it ,it's like saving that special cigar or whiskey they were Made to be smoked drunk or used. apart from that Winston would be pissed if you didn't ?
SirVantes Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Gorgeous. If you feel the need to honour it, how about reserving it exclusively for Upmann Sir Winstons, or Churchills?
99call Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Funny story. I once restored a bronze bust actually by Winston Churchill for one of the living family members. The sculpture was of Oscar Nemon, Winston's friend and sculptor of many of the famous bronzes depicting Churchill. When I was finished the client said. "you've done a wonderful job, I can't thank you enough, It's just a shame it's just a terrible likeness" ???? "I said you are aware this is 'by' your grandfather, as opposed to 'of' him. They were absolutely elated. Classic! This picture attached is of Oscar Nemon, his sculpture of Winston, and Winstons Sculpture of him, both at the clay stage.
El Hoze Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 That is awesome, and man congrats on winning it! I was gifted a Davidoff ashtray recently from the Mrs that is buffalo leather and palladium. I still have not been able to bring myself to ash in it. Though I am OCD w ashtrays. I like them kept clean at all times, helps me relax! haha Enjoy it!
