Andy04 Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 https://www.havanainsider.com/cigar/cigar-review-partagas-serie-d-no-6-2/ How can this guy be serious? 1
Luca Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 I don't get it... dont all of you guys smoke a D6 in sub 10 mins? I even smoked a Bolivar Coronas Junior in 13 minutes. Good "crossing the road smoke" (TIC)Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk 3
maxcjs0101 Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 He isnt doing much cigar related stuff since last year iianm 1
NSXCIGAR Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 That's pretty rich, even for Suckling. I'm hoping he's being extremely facetious...
gweilgi Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Smoking a D6 in seven minutes ... is an excellent way of getting mouth ulcers in eight minutes. Plus, I'd be barfing for my country at that speed. Both volume and distance. 4
Ken Gargett Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 his two alternatives were ripping up his money while standing in the shower and knocking off a bottle of romanee conti in four minutes. why the hell would anyone bother smoking cigars if they whizz through them in 7 minutes? insanity. i respect a lot of what james does but we are not in sync on this. 1
Lotusguy Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 He *may* be a decent wine critic, but he sure as heck doesn't have any relevance when it comes to cigars - proven by where he worked before. 1
Ken Gargett Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Just now, Lotusguy said: He *may* be a decent wine critic, but he sure as heck doesn't have any relevance when it comes to cigars - proven by where he worked before. i'd disagree with that. he definitely has relevance. you might disagree with him, and fair enough, but he is relevant. i doubt that habanos would like to see him disappear. 4

He worked at CA and their tastings are, well, you know. Plus I can't stand his self-important style. 2

He did some interesting stuff on Cuba when there wasn't a ton of that kind of media available in the US, which I thought was kinda cool. But I've always thought him a bit of a charlatan when it comes to reviewing cigars. And his style, as you mentioned, probably has a lot to do with my opinion, too.
Popular Post Ken Gargett Posted July 20, 2017 Popular Post Posted July 20, 2017 no issue with anyone disagreeing with his reviews and indeed taking no notice of them if they so choose, not liking his style or even questioning his methods (though there i think you need to perhaps have some legitimate evidence). for me, he works hard, is well respected in many areas (he is certainly very well respected in the wine industry). this would be an occasion i disagree with him. that will always happen. this is a subjective game. but i'm always interested in what he has to say. 5
JR Kipling Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 I'm a slow smoker. At minimum, it usually takes me an additional 50% of the estimated time to smoke a cigar.I'm guessing James was joking when he said it only took him 7 minutes to smoke that cigar ?Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro 1
JohnS Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Perhaps James had in mind the original Habanos S.A marketing of the Partagas Serie D No.6 (in April 2014) being a 15 minute smoke when he wrote his review (in October 2015)? 2
MahDooRow Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 He was probably following Zino Davidoff's "cigar etiquette" and only smoked half. 1
Fugu Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 For me, he finally got himself disqualified when not correcting the heavy canoeing of his MPE in this vid (@ 6:44 or 7:55). Admittedly though, here I do share his assessment of the Reyes.
busdriver Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Thats some seriously dry humor, but it has to be an attempt at just that.
luckme10 Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 7 Minutes?!? That's nothing. Here's a Vacuum smoking a Monti 3 in 6! 4
