I regularly check stock at about 10 different places but mostly buy privately. Almost never buy on FOH.

Roughly 70% of my purchases are from FOH.  About 15% are private purchases and 15% come from four other reputable and reliable online sources.

I live in Malllorca, Spain where there are 4 outstanding estancos (tobacconists licensed by the State). The best is Estanco 4 in Palma, run by Toni Caballero who is "muy simpatico" and highly knowledgable. Although prices in Spain have crept up in recent years they are still highly competitive (e.g. MC Dantes for €190; Trini Topes for €14 per stick.

The major advantage though is being to see exactly what you're buying and having the possibility of returning sticks that are plugged or sub standard

Generally the estancos are pretty good in Spain, but only if you're there and can have a good look at the boxes - I wouldn't go down the mail order route. And, it's a fun thing to do whilst on holiday.
I'm in Barcelona at the moment and have had a good mooch around three or 4 escantos and bought a couple of boxes ('13 du Prince, thanks). But, but, but - I did my Barcelona cigar budget serious damage last weekend on 24:24 which has limited me a bit. I think this sums up by buying habits quite neatly.

I look at everywhere I can find to check general availability of certain cigars.  Unless it is a regional only available elsewhere or an auction site,  I purchase here exclusively.

That would be nice to return some that are plugged.

Craigs list, Amazon and eBay... They have all my favorites, and are never out of reasonable priced Cohibas! Often there is packaging that you can only get on Craig's list.

Some great bargains there, no doubt

Pretty funny, though.

I have patronized about nine (9) different vendors for my fav's before they went to accepting orders from VISA credit only, or else having too many problems with complaints of confiscation.  Nowadays, it's primarily three (3), including our own El Presidente`!  :cigar:

I remember back in the '90s buying CCs from Yahoo Auctions, when that still existed and before they banned tobacco products.

I actually got a few decent smokes, but holy hell were there a lot horrendous fakes - all with weirdly elaborate back stories.

Almost a 50/50 split of Czar's bought compared with directly Havana / Cuba bought.  Maybe a small fringe (about 10% at most?) bought from one of 3 other online vendors that I found before FOH, but that actually Rob here has vouched for and/or knows well enough to recommend.

Regarding shipping / duties issues, gents - might be best to take offline / in PMs.

I look at about 5 sites but have become a loyal customer of two. I don't have the time or the money to deal with a  lot of the shenanigans common in the online Habanos world.

Hi Canuck can i pm you about this??

I`ve been buying most of my current stock from FOH and another well-known and highly regarded source. BUT I received a box today from that source and I am very disappointed in the quality of the cigars. Several of the wrappers have tears in them and several of the cigar feet are damaged.

Hopefully they will rectify the problem but I am now more inclined to be patient and wait for the boxes I am looking for to pop up on 24:24.

Very few places due to being in the US. I only use very trusted brothers, 2 online vendors, and our wonderful host. I'd love to eliminate the online vendors and only use my brothers and our host but sadly my wallet doesn't allow this at the moment. In due time though, in due time.

Of course when I hit Cuba, I load up there. I look at 1 or 2 other shops, but first comes quality then price. Never a problem with FOH - they get about 95%+ of my business.

(Still hoping for a freebie ashtray to appear....)
