Easter break round the world...how many days break do you get?

Hard to believe that Easter is here already 

We shut down Thursday afternoon and return on Tuesday so Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays.  It is school holidays here at the same time so many Aussies take the opportunity of heading away for a quick holiday with camping being a favourite. Normally it is picture perfect weather in most parts at this time of the year. 

What is the Easter holiday picture in your part of the world?

I couldn't remember the significance of Easter Monday. the idea of an FOH easter egg hunt at work lost unanimously on a show of hands. 7-1 against.

So, for the question posed, I come from a Christian religous background and currently work at a federal hospital in the US and they don't even recognize Easter as a minor holiday (somehow Columbus day is). Eeesh. Say what you may, but America is screwed in part because we know nothing but being politically correct as a population.

when i worked in DC, late 80s/early 90s, i remember saying, as we finished work on the thursday evening, to the other lawyers in the dept that i'd see them all on tuesday morning. they looked puzzled and asked where i was going? i said easter. they looked more puzzled. i had to rearrange the plans very quickly. had never occurred to me that they did not have the same easter holidays as us.

4 Days off, don't often get that even at Christmas.

I turn 30 on Good Friday this year, have been warned off the beers on Thursday eve as we have plans early Friday apparently, so I will be pushing that rule to the limit because I don't think I can get doghoused on my birthday...

Looking forward to a solid amount of time away from the desk with the pleasure of enjoying it with everyone else being in the same boat.

We get Saturday and Sunday off. Nothing on Friday or Monday, but you can use vacation balance if you have any.

Where I work (toronto) it's good Friday as the day off. I think schools get Monday too. 

Hope the stores are open that day. Otherwise I will die of boredom.

Ottawa Canada - we get Friday off as a stat. (public) holiday.

Government and banks have Monday off. Wifie works for govt, and my clients are govt so we both have a 4 day "holiday".

Now, of course, its NOT a 4-day holiday. 

Friday, its 14 for easter turkey dinner (6 grandkids and parents).

Saturday is get wifies snow tires changed, then grocery shop, then sister / brother n law and niece for lunch, then pick up wifies car (snowtires), then grandkid #7 (the oldest) gets droppoed off after dinner for a "sleepover: (this is definitely a martini day).

Sunday, noonish, mom n dad of grandkid 7 come over for turkey-leftoverv lunch as they couldn't make it friday. Rest of the day is ours (finally!!!)

Monday (and you thought it was a holiday!) - my car goes in for service.

All in all, I think I have about 4 hours "off".

I need to move to Oz or get into the cigar Biz! Friday and Monday for Easter? Do you guys just take the entirety of December for Christmas??? 

A lot of things in the states used to be closed on Easter Sunday. Not anymore. If you work Sundays, then you very well may have to work Easter itself. My Cousin is a used car salesmen, he typically shows up for dinner about 30 min after they close the dealership down.

My wife gets Friday off.  She works for the State.  Any job I have had we never got additional days off for Easter.  Christmas and New years eve were off days only if the company said so and that was rare.  Or they fell on a weekend.

This month we have 3 short weeks. Good Friday, Easter Monday and 25th for ANZAC Day.

We in the U.S. celebrate Easter as the day that Jesus moves the rock covering his cave and steps outside.  If he sees his shadow, it means six more weeks of winter......

Here in Iceland its 5 days. Start on Thursday ends on Monday. 

With only 3vacation days involved we can make it up to 11 days off. 4 of them paid

Answer...zero days professionally. My kids on the other hand have off on Good Friday. Although I'm not super religious I usually fast for the entire Good Friday so I'm grumpy at work

Dealer I work for is closed on Sunday but we will be working every other day.  

Great reason to have a sale!  Jesus died have a sale, Jesus is risen have a sale! Passover--sale, Snow-have a sale, sunny--have a sale, hail--big big sale!, sun came up--have a sale, gas low--have a sale, gas high-have a sale, rain, snow, sleet, thunderstorms, honoring veterans, Presidents, workers--have a sale!  Great business to be in.  Fortunately I work for a great family-they're awesome!  Family's awesome--have a sale!

Its like everybody is still in school. Nov-April, Summer Break!
