No budget really as I just buy what I wish. However, I've never been one to spend/live beyond my means...

Seems like that can be good and bad.

cigar budget - the total amount of income that can be successfully hidden from the missus.

It's more that you have the "disposible Income",money you do not need for necessities. Living within your means,so to speak. If you have a wife, disregard the above............

Jumbo shrimp...military intelligence...cigar budget... ...oxymoron

The pain of going beyond the cigar budget is overcome each time I reach for that box of cigars x 25. party.gif

No hard and fast rule. For sure I am averaging more than $1k/month, but that is somewhat offset by cigars that I sell.

The good news is that I have better and better access and sources.

The bad news is that I have better and better access and sources - especially for RE :innocent:

I set a vague budget when I signed up for this site, really looking for certain cigars and then a few that strike my fancy.

Then I started buying extra boxes of the ones I was looking for.

My need for Bolivars has been met, unless I see some PSPs, and then I am tempted.

I don't smoke much, so my purchases are for laying down mostly, and smoking with friends more than my personal immediate consumption.

I plan to buy 1-2KUSD per year going forward, subject to availability and uncontrollable urges.

This being the first year that I have owned a humidor worthy enough of holding multiple boxes. I did splurge a bit this year adding many staples to lay down. Also, as I have yet to have a MRS. to report to, I might as well stock up while I can both afford/allowed. I am almost at full capacity in my Aristocrat Humi but, I dont collect wine so the wine fridge is going through a conversion at the moment to accomodate more purchases This year's budge was in the $15K+ range.

Same here. This was my first year into CC as well, and my budget was in that ballpark to establish a baseline cellar and get the aging clock started on a broad variety.

Currently we have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy in my household and I'm more than good with that!

Sometimes I tell myself I have to spend a little less....but then I have a bottle of wine and those Espys show up on the 24:24 and I'm back at it again.

You will succeed/fail, depending on how you look at things. Success, because one box a month should be pretty easy to do when there's twenty 24:24 (/72) sales a month. Fail, when you realise you'd like to try something that takes your fancy, and before you know it, you've done something closer to 2, 3 or 4 boxes a month! You'll think afterwards, how did it come to this?...then you'll comfort yourself that the PSP Cohiba box you have was indeed worth it! lol3.gif

Trust me, I speak from experience! cofcig.gif

You make great points, so far I am on track though. Bought a box of the RA Superiores from the 24:24 last Tuesday (still November)

And just bough a box of the VR Famosos (Dec) also 24:24

Now have to save for January heh.

$6600 repair job on car. The only budget this whole household has is a tight one. Smoking slow and watching what I have age blissfully well.

Maybe next year. My only fear is another Christmas time LFTH like last year. Gosh darn almighty. The power to resist might make the back of my head explode.

I am fortunate to be able to increase my income from almost limitless overtime

I guess I'm lucky to be working for a company that has limitless demand

Mostly, I never took it though because I like my time off

Then, I found CC

Now I work all the time to pay for that indulgence which the wife says

"That purchase isn't comming out of common income accounts!!!!!"

Fine.... sheesh, take a pill

I'll work more :D

The personal favorites I get multiple boxes to stash away. There's generally such a wonderful bettering of the cigar over 5 years that you pretty much have to get 4-5 boxes just to make it that far out. And then if you want to try something new, well that's best done by the box as well rather than onesy-twosey. And then if you're having the guys over . . . and then there's the business gifts . . . and then all those fabulous regionals and LE's with 4-5 years on them . . . and then the Trading Room . . .

It all just seems to pile up! cigar.gif Best not to look. tongue.png

Take out multiple credit cards, open multiple checking accounts, encourage kids to skip college, decrease 401 contribution, take out 2nd mortgage, and if all else fails... sell crack.

Personally, I choose to buy more than I smoke (averaged throughout the year), only buy what I can afford, never carry a CC balance, spend money on cigars instead of humidors, avoid spending money on new/fancy cars.... and allow a decade to build a small stockpile (it is not a collection... because, as I always say... cigars are for smokin', not for strokin'). I have never earned much money, but I haven't bought much in the last 5+ years... but have enough to support my consumption.
