PuroDan Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I was gifted a CORO from my buddy Heath this week. I examamined it and noticed a nice semi oily wrapper, and the wrapper had that beautiful reddish hue!!! I just smiled and knew. Are all Cohibas worth the money? Absolutely not IMHO, but when you get one that's on they are very hard to beat. What are your thoughts on the CORO?
earthson Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 They're nice once in a while, but even if money was no object for me, there are still lots of other Robustos/Hermoso #4s I prefer over them.
terrantheman Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I love a great CoRo but they are not the beyond all end all of cuban cigars but they can be really great. Lol!
PuroDan Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 I love a great CoRo but they are not the beyond all end all of cuban cigars but they can be really great. Lol! I would agree with you on that. A Bolivar RC is superior in every way IMHO. But this stick was free!!!
Paul3 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 A fantastic smoke, but if the question was wholly one of bang for the buck I would lean more towards saying there are other robustos out there that deliver a flavor more in line with the price tag.
Habana Mike Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Had a great '08 this afternoon. Oily Colorado Rosado wrapper, smoked great! Like you said, when these are on they're excellent. 2
sw15825 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Love them! I always have them in my humidoor. With that said, I don't buy them blindly.
avaldes Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 To my taste buds the CoRo is really great. I like to keep them in stock at all times...in fact I could probably live on CoRo, Sir Winstons and good M2's. There are 31 flavors for a reason though...different strokes!

JohnS Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Yes, we agree that when CORO's are on they are wonderful to smoke and Rob has come across some good boxes recently. In regards to the price factor of Cohibas, I also agree that there are some other cheaper alternatives that offer a great experience. However, reflect on this point. Cohiba, Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta are Habanos SA's highest selling cigars and Europe is its biggest market. With such big production numbers its common to come across average batches. I notice though the common consensus on this forum among members rightfully complaining about average and below average Cohibas and Montecristos. I also take note of the fact that when El Pres puts up Cohibas (and Montecristos) on 24:24 sales the boxes tend to last 5 minutes until ALL SOLD! 1
1fastmach1 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I've got some coros from 2013 and a few left from 2011 and they are smoking wonderfully.
Smallclub Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 There are 31 flavors for a reason though...different strokes! 31? According to who?
coug28 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Hey, this isn't a what's better than a CoRo thread. This is a let's appreciate these bad boys when they're on...cause when they are, there really aren't any better IMO. 1
UpInSmoak Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 31? According to who?I assume the poster is referencing Baskn Robins. It's the most recognizable ice cream shop/chain in the states. Their slogan is "31 favors" as that is how many flavors each store has available. And I do agree that when a CoRo is on, it's tough to beat!
saintsmokealot Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Tough to be a CoRo. beat not be but then again its hard to be a CoRo
BigBruce Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 A buddy gave me a 5 year old Cohiba a couple of years ago and it was & still is the best cigar I have ever smoked. It was packed with so much flavor and I could not get enough of it. It was honey on my lips and I did not want it to end. I have been chasing that experience/flavor ever since. I have a couple of boxes resting, waiting for the calendar to hit 5 years. I have since smoked all of the other robustos & hermosos & think it would be very difficult for any of those to reach the magnitude/potential of a CoRo!
santela Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I have yet to have an aged CoRo, but my last one was pretty great with just one year on it. I would definitely buy more if it weren't so damn expensive! 1
coug28 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Been chasin' that MUO goodness ever since I missed out on them on 24:24. One Feb 14 5'er and the rest May 14. At this rate I'll have a full cab of MUO CoRo in no time.
coug28 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 The '08's were amazing!!!!! And they still are. I was down to my last few EMA Nov 2008s....so it was WAY beyond time to restock on CoRos.
elam370 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Delicious but rather inconsistent. I like them a lot and they are just magnificently tasty but they're really bloody expensive for a robusto.
TonyAccardo Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 When "on" , they are second to none! They're one of the cigars of Cuba I find it mandatory to have in your stock. Unfortunately, my box is not very good, at least not right now and they've got another 3.5 years to go before they hit the 5 year mark. I'll probably get one more box through Rob that is PSP grade. I've reconciled with myself that the more expensive a cigar is, the more it is necessary to get a PSP box. Some people would think "I'm already paying an arm and a leg for these! Why tack on more?" But that is just the reason it pays to have Rob pick you out the best IF they have them available. You want as close as you can get to a "guarantee" that these cigars you're paying an arm and a leg for are going to be worth that arm and leg. I won't make the same mistake twice, buying these blind.
Hash Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 it is a good cigar, but in robustos i found from my experience that the serie d #4 is hard to beat.

Makes complete sense to me. Way to many inconsistencies with cuban cigars. I'd rather pay a little more and feel good with someone I feel knows cigars rather than burn my money.
