It actually raises an issue. There are members here who I'm sure have cigar collections worth 6 figures and more. Have a plan in place if something happens to you, so whoever you leave behind knows w

The glass is always half empty huh? Never said anything about Cuban davidoffs. My reasoning is that if you buy thousands of cigars you probably know at least a little about smokes. Might not be t

I have a secret note to be delivered to my wife so she can call Rob/Dee. First she will be SUPER pissed when she realizes how many boxes of cigars I have...then she will be thrilled when she realizes

The glass is always half empty huh?...

Just a realist buddy....

Fully agreed earlier - "glass half empty" is always the case with some lately. Can't get through a week of posts without some pointing to the blatently negative, bitching and moaning about something...

Who are you referring to? Please expand on this.

Mind yourselves, gentlemen.

I invite you all to utilize the PM facility where appropriate.

Wilkey

I didn't know cheap shots were permissible on this forum, apologies.

Sorry, didn't mean to bait this, or take a "cheap shot" at you directly or anyone else. A cheap shot or backhanded comment could be the comment you gave there to Wilkey instead. I was simply agreeing with what was stated earlier, and in reference to a number of members who have been taking such a negative / "glass half empty" slant on things lately. Doesn't always have to be happy happy joy joy around here, but it gets tiresome when the same members repeatedly try to rain on everyone else's parade.

Wilkey, Frank, et al - understood. Didn't mean to cause a stir, just simply stated an open opinion about it that a number of us have. Have tried PM's in the past with some, as you guys know, and definitely not worthwhile as the attitudes and behaviours are always there. It's kind of openly understood with some, that's why the post was simply made in the open thread.

When stuff affects more than just me and one person, for me anyways, I don't keep that solely private unless it adamently needs to be. I'm someone who doesn't like certain actions, attitudes, or comments to stay in the shadows if it affects a broader scope.

Sorry to hijack the OP's thread, but I was simply rolling along with a thought that he obviously had too, in his thread.

Here's the list of full boxes:...

And damn, that's a nice little list!!! I'm not one for NC's, and couldn't tell trash from trophy with most of that list, but it does sure seem like quite a stellar variety. Very cool. Thanks so much for sharing.

That's one hell of a list! Best of luck! Should fetch a good amount for her.

Yeah, no cuban davidoffs, but not a bunch of Gurkhas either. :-)

Her mother had an "expert" to put a value on the boxes, and they are WAY high.

A box of HdM Epi #1 was valued at USD 500. :-)

I've set them straight now.

You have to understand that there are different levels of consumers in the States. Remember, this is not a gray market item, but a black market item.

Some folks cannot 'risk' buying through certain channels. They require a mule. In that sense, cigars that are landed and clear, may, have a substantially higher value. There are intermediary 'dealers' in the states that would buy at our level (meaning retail from folks like our host) and broker for substantially higher prices to the person who will not or cannot buy online.

A lot of those folks exist. It just depends on the circles that you run in. In the States, fakes are not exactly cheap, for this reason.

A box landed in the States therefore has, or can have substantially higher value to the right customer.

I have little use for experts… But this one might be wrong for you because you have sources. For his market, he may be right on the money!

Cheers! -Piggy

I guess the other question is what shape are they in. There was a mention of mom still putting water in from time to time. But that vs a properly maintained humidor is another. Fingers crossed. This makes me think I need to keep better records of what I have, what I paid, etc.

I bought a collection of 200 cigars at what seemed a good price a while back - only to part with it at a lower price as they showed to be of a poorer condition than I thought at first

What do the codes/ dates look like?
