Popular Post Ryan Posted September 22, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2014 From a friend who happens to be a manager in a cigar shop. This cigar came from the manager before him who most likely picked it up on a trip to Cuba in the mid/late 60s. Looking forward to this. 9
Perla Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 That's a great find. Could you please write down a review on this? Please! 1

Maplepie Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Was expecting a Dunhill Selection Jose L. Piedra. Imagine that! Cheers for sharing Andy. Looking forward to your next thread! What was the brand like before? Was it as awesome as RG but dummed down over time? Or was it always the bargain brand of bundles it is today?
Puros Y Vino Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Very cool. That is a handsome looking band. The cigar looks like it's in great condition too. Enjoy!
Perla Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Sure, it'll be sometime in the next few weeks. Sorry forgot the most important part in the Middle. Enjoy this little beauty.
Ryan Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 The shop sent me pictures of a box they have in their inner, inner vault.. The cigar I got is not from this box. 3
laficion Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 What was the brand like before? Was it as awesome as RG but dummed down over time? Or was it always the bargain brand of bundles it is today? Nice example of a JLP Andy, Just for the note, JLP was a big brand ,bigger then the RG brand. It came from the Remedios region and ,at the time,José L. Piedra was the most famous brand outside of Havana .The owner was from the Piedra family, José Lamadrid Piedra. The factory was at the ,Avenida Simon Bolivar No. 404, Habana. Guy 4
Smallclub Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 What was the brand like before? Was it as awesome as RG but dummed down over time? Or was it always the bargain brand of bundles it is today? JL Piedra was a big marca before the revolution, with America as a main market. I must check in MRN, but I believe the marca had a dozen vitolas listed in pre-embargo catalogs, but only 2 or 3 in the 70's. The marca disappeared in the 80's and was reinstated in the mid 90's as a cheap, short filler offering, that made a huge success… 1
Strada Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Wow great stick. Make sure to drop some tasting notes!
Mr.T Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Great find! Look forward to your thoughts on it. Appreciate the history on JLP too everyone Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
1LegLance Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Wow some killer info floating around this place. And it saves me digging out my MRN book At least you know it was well cared for....at least I hope so
santela Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Cool stick! You have to review this one! Gorgeous band as well, reminds me how I don't like all the new Cubans having the same bands.
finecigar Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Beautiful stick, box and history. JLP needs a comeback! Flashback band...
El Presidente Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 It couldn't find a better home Andy!
