CaptainQuintero Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I love the countryside, the worst thing for me is cities, in fact anything bigger than a village I try to avoid! If I can't knock out a sheep/horse/cow by throwing a brick over my shoulder blindly then I'm not truly happy. So Anything outdoor is what I centre my life around Love real ales, anything fizzy doesn't cross my threshold and avoid anything bottled. Has to be hand pumped from unpressurised casks for me nowadays or I just moan and whinge I am passionate about not going to the gym, eating every meal like it's my last and getting away to deserted beaches around the UK
Orion21 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 My main interests right now are my kids and wife. With a 2.5 and 10 month old they are what I invest almost all of my free waking moments enjoying. However, once they are in bed or out of town I love: Playing Jazz, Rock and Blues guitar. I love music and have recently, the last two years, taken up learning to play. I love spending an hour of free time practicing and trying to learn the songs I enjoy so much. I also enjoy wine - I love learning about it, visiting the vineyards, talking to the owners/wine makers. I have been buying and learning about wine since I was 20, so for over the past 12+ years I have accumulated a respectable collection of mainly California wines. Before I was into cigars this was my main interest. Now that I enjoy cigars so much I am applying the same principles of acquisition and "hording." Finally, I love reading. For whatever reason I enjoy uber long novels - novels you have to invest a couple of months to finish. If a book has less than 1,000 pages I won't normally read it, unless it was high recommended by a friend. I love the amount of character and plot development a long novel provides. The most recent series of novels I have enjoyed were the "Pillars of the Earth" series by Ken Follett. Not award winning prose, but very well written and entertaining. I also read books associated with my business.

cigcars Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Absolutely love UFC and mixed martial arts bouts. I also have a passion about Ennio Morricone's western show tunes. His music has sent me into head spinning rapture since I was in my single digit years. I've got probably seven or more (really lost count) of his CD's. After that I have a surface passion about automobiles. I say surface because I'm not skilled in their repair or detailing, but just love their build, design and composition - just like Seegars!
Charltonc Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I am a mental health counselor so I do a lot of reading about psychology. Studying for my licensing exam, spending time with my fiancé, watching sports: Nets, Yankees, Devils, Giants, and FSU. I enjoy working out, going to the beach, but my cigar obsession has taken over most of my free time lately as I work a lot, two jobs is a ***** sometimes.
poorman Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Used to be travelling, when younger: Been around the rock twice. These days I tend to stay closer to home, with in 2500 miles or so. I enjoy immensely taking the dogs out for quail/pheasant. For those who have never hunted behind a well trained dog -- go do it. So happens, getting another one, dog that is, next week. Back to training again. After my dogs, my passions would be: water skiing - we ski everyday during season, M-F, we're lucky to have two courses so we can go back to back golf river rafting snow skiing mountain biking golf -- did I say golf already? and lately -- habanos, seems a lot of my $$ is going to this new found interest

Dbone Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Shaving: all manners of wet shaving including DE and straight razors. Collecting different razors, badger/boar brushe and creams and soaps. Will never shave with a gilette and foam again. Yeah, been shaving with a straight razor for about 6 months now. There's a feeling of satisfaction after a good wet shave Another good skill to know as well.
NJP Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I hear you on the straight shave. Just got a NOS Dorko #444 and loving it.
Tan1801 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I've been involved with martial arts for quite some time now. These days its mainly karate, but I'm also picking up tai chi again. Besides that it's snowboarding (even though this years snow season has been a dismal start) and spirits (mainly whisky with a growing interest in rum and brandies). Other interests that seem to have taken a back seat in recent times are computers, video games, cars and motorbikes.

stogiecidal Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I like to mix cigars in with my other hobbies lol....sports and cigars, beers and cigars, food and cigars... A lot of my time is dedicated to my family (wife and 3 daughters) but mostly come spring to fall I play all levels of softball from beer league co-ed, comp men's both slowpitch and fastpitch. Outside of softball once the kids are asleep you can usually find me having a drink watching some form of sport with my buddies, or watching a movie or catching up on tv shows. Love craft beers. I try my best to support local brews. Current Quebec favorites include Biere Brisset (Broken7) and Micrbrasserie Le Grimoire (Deserables, Vie de Chateau).
drockspang1 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Hi everyone, Sports: I'm a die hard Philly sports fan; Eagles, Phillies, Flyers and a huge Penn St. football fan!(I know, it's been a rough couple years). I'm also an avid golfer. I used to play 2x's a week, but since my son was born(he's turning 1 in a couple weeks), my golfing has slowed down a bit. Music: I have played guitar since my college days, and listen to all kinds of music, R&R, Country, Classical, Jazz... Been on bit of a Blues kick the last year. Movies: I like pretty much anything that has DeNiro or Pacino in it! My all time fav, if there is one, has to be Heat. I didn't appreciate that movie until I got older for some reason? But, what a great flick. Family: I know it sounds corny, but I want to be the absolut best dad I can be to my son. His birth has dramatically changed my life and the way I look at things now. My wife is also pretty cool about my main hobby, cigars. So I should probably mention her...lol! Anyway, a little about what keeps me going. Great thread Rob! Derek

I have a 78 vette and a 71 vw camper Cigars I think1978 was Corvette's 25th Anniversary, my brother had one when I was a kid; nice car. I've always liked Corvette's and other than the new ones I've always liked the 59's.
stogieluver Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Ole Miss football, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants (Eli Manning and his dad, Archie, are Ole Miss Rebels) cigars, and traveling with my wife, who is my best friend. Our last trip was to Cuba last October. Unbelievable experience. One we'll never forget, and it ignited a passion in me for all things Cuba. As US citizens, don't know if we'll ever get another chance to go back in my life time. Holding out hope, though.
