I've never had the pleasure of smoking a Cohiba Robusto or Siglo IV, so I was thinking of ordering either a Robusto or Siglo IV Tubo.

Which would you recommend?

thanks

I've found the Siglo IV to be MUCH better young. My 2011's are delicious.

Robustos need a bit more age, to the point of me not truly liking them without at least a few years.

For me, CoRos need 4/5 years to start to be approachable, when they do they are amazing.

IMO Coro are a bit more in your face, Siglos are a tad bit more mellow, generally speaking.

I love Coro, so I would say coro. I don't know about recent production siglo 4, mine are from 08 and 09 and are still not ready. I have 09 coro that is comming around, but 2011 coro that seems years ahead of the 09s. I have SEP 11 Coro that are beginning to shine allready! I might recommend to get some tubes of 4s and pack of coro to see what you like first IMHO.

I could not agree more. Smoking an aged CoRo is heaven, but young, not so much. Siglos are more gentle as a young smoke, with good flavor, and will also reward you down the road. But, IMHO, year over year of aging of the same vintage from both, the Robusto wins.

I've found the Cuban Tubos to be very good Young cigars of late

Buying boxes and having to sit on them for a year or more isnt really in my budget so I tend to gravitate towards cigars that can be smoked fresh. I'll usually have a half full box sit in my Humi for years after I get paid and buy another box of different cigars but that first half of the box usually gets smoked pretty quickly so I like it if they are good as soon as they land and improve over time

Pretty different cigars. The Robusto is ... more robust, lol. The Sig IV is creamier and lighter (though not mild).

Both can be great cigars with some age, so it's really a matter of personal preference, or in my case, mood at the time I'm picking out a stick.

If it were me, I'd try to find a buddy and split both boxes!

Thank you all for the great responses. I think I am going to go with Robustos.

One, I've only had the Siglos from Cohiba, two, I prefer a more 'robust', more flavorful smoke than mellower, and give the amount of smokes I have, I probably would and have to age them.

thanks again.

If you want a more "robust" flavour, might I suggest avoiding Cohiba entirely...?

This is not a bad idea. Cohiba's IMo are lovely mellow smooth smokes but rarely have I tried one that the word Robust comes to mind.

If the only siglo you smoked before was a siglo II, then either is going to have some more strength to it imo.

It is really hard to tell another person what cigar they will like because taste is so subjective. I can only tell you what I like more and I go to coro more often than siglo IV, but I say try a pack of each if you don't want to risk a full box purchase. That way you don't lose alot if its not for you. Happy smoking !!

Agree to an extent, but CoRos can be on the full side of medium, especially when young. Robust "flavorwise" however, something along the lines of a BRC or RASS may indeed suit him better. When at their best It takes a true understanding of the Cohiba marca to appreciate its subtleties. With the Sig IV being much more finesse than the CoRo. Nothing wrong with that though, almost 2 boxes for the price of 1 CoRo if you went another way. Or find a couple/few buddies and go splitsville!

I've smoked some VIs and a lot of Is, IIs, and IIIs; and I guess what I meant by more "robust" flavor, is that if I just get more of the Cohiba flavors in the Robustos as I get in the VI or IIIs, I'll be happy.

I'd take the IVs myself, but both can be quite irregular. I'd take the Corona Especiale over any other Cohiba in a heartbeat.

Personally I have a special love for the IVs... Was one of my first Cubans to ever smoke.., now many thousands later- still enjoy the hell out of them! Size is perfect. Enjoy it more than robusto
