Well, there seems to be a vibe going on at the moment.... Worst EL threads... Worst song threads...

I'm catching up on the forum this cold Canberra Autums afternoon... and am smoking the worst cigar I have smoked in years. An Opus X that sits in a box of random NCs in my humidor. I purchased it and others about 10 years ago and always seem to ignore them...

Today I decided to give one a go. I'm not sure of its name in the Opus X catalogue... however the vitola seems to be a Robusto Extra size.

Wow, this is so bad. The construction and draw are the only positive things I can comment on. If I was doing a review on this I would say it has flavours of dogs arse, with a rotten hardwood fence paling and diesel drenched railway sleeper on the finish. I feel sorry for those who revere this so much... however I concede taste is subjective.

What's the worst 'premium' cigar you've had in the last 12 months?

What about worst 'premium' cigar in living memory?

Worst I've had lately is the Cohiba Piramdes

It smoked like crap. Wouldnt stay lit. Wouldn't draw. Wouldnt burn straight. No flavor and the wrapper came apart about halfway through. Considering it was a $45 smoke, pissed off doesnt start to describe how I felt. It put me off Cubans until very recently.

Worst ever was a Hopz Toro Beer infused cigar. Smoked alright but tasted like burnt dishwasher and garbage

Easy one, last years blind tasting cigar no 3.mad.gif Sir Winnie.

Tight was an understatement, negative on draw. I cut and cut and cut till there was nothing left.

I got very little feedback from the cigar it was that unsmokeable.

Also I would clasify it as the worst cigar from memory I have ever had.

Thank god it's not the norm :)

Seems 10 yrs might be the edge of the aging cycle for Opus (or just a dud). I've found them to be a rather nice smoke a yr in. Never had a really bad cuban yet. Many flavorless bags of air but nothing outright rotten.

Diamond Crown. I went out on a limb because of a review I read and paid 60$ for 5 of them. I suffered through two and gave the other three away. They were beautiful cigars and even smelled sweet pre light. Once you got that thing burning it tasted like melting plastic bags and burning trash. I won't fall for non Cuban cigar descriptions again.

When I first got into cigars, I smoked non-Cubans and did not know better until I came here.

Now we call them Poo-tels, Poo-dermos, Poo- dilla.

But the worst I ever pitched into the fire had to be a Macanudo something or other... yechhhh

Worst cigar from memory, a Cohiba siglo IV. Draw was so tight I almost burst a blood vessel. Couldn't get any flavours out of it... Had to pitch it half way through.... Disappointing.

I was at the cigar bar owned by Rocky Patel in Naples Tuesday. Beautiful bar, great liquor selection and lovely bartenders. However, I decided to leave my beloved habanos I. The car and give rocky Patel decade a try. One word. Yuck.

First off, that opus must've been a dud. Opus x is one of the few NC's that tastes as good as a CC. Obviously not the same profile, it's different but good in its own way.

I don't think it's fair to label a cigar as the worst just from tight draw alone. I've had my share of plugged sticks but when it was drawing fine they were amazing. I can't remember what the worst cigar I've tasted but there are a ton of them that I would never buy again.

A Gurka. Dont remember which one but it was horrible and the aftertaste stuck with me all day.

Ghurka - by the description and marketing you'd think you were smoking an ace of spades. Beetle dung more like it.

My worst cigar ever = Rockey Patel/Drew Estates Java. While the coffee infusion seemed like a good idea the experience was disgusting. :tantrum: 58RG box press made the cigar a pain to cut. The cigar stained my fingers, my lips and possibly my soul. A close second is Partagas Black Label (NC). It was like smoking asphalt. Gave every last one of them away.

Ever smoke a Rocky Patel? ROFL

QUOTED FOR TRUTH!! Man I thought I was the only one who hated RP lol.

Worst cigar this year was an 07 Choix Supreme. Flavors were there and teased me but couldn't keep it lit. The cigar was tight and had a tunnel at the same time. So I'd light...take a puff...then it would go out. Only so many times you can light a stick before it tastes like fuel or burnt ash lmao. Tossed it after trying hard to smoke it for a half hour. Broke my heart cuz I love ERDM.

In the last 12 months - Davidoff 2000 Tubos, it reached the mighty heights of 5/100. Like smoking rolled up newspaper.

Worst ever is a draw according to my notes:

Cohiba Exquisitos and Cuaba Generosos both managed to gain:

For me, it was the Juan Lopez RE Canada 2011... It tasted from start to finish like poop. Funnily enough, when I came back home, my better half adked me if I forgot to throw away my dog's poop bag. That says it all.

Cohiba Maduros

How dare you! Lol

Upon consideration and discussion last night...if cigars only came in a flavour profile of the OpusX I had last night.... I would not smoke cigars. I'd go cold turkey today.

Opus petite lanceros with significant box age are excellent.

You had a bad one mate.

Good Dominican tobacco can be tasty in a Ramon Allones sorta way.

Bad Dominican tobacco tastes like an Alaskan Pipeline.
