El Presidente Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Your Best Cigar of June 2012? Toss up for me on the VR Maestro and the Ramon Allones Grandes. Both are in my top 5 for the year. In the end I can't split them. So good, so sensual, so different. Yours?
Stalebread Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 . The only cigar I had in June but it was stellar: the H.Upmann robusto from the travel humidor.
winelover Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 A Montecristo no.2 box code PLM ABR 2011. It hit the spot.
ramon_cojones Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Have not had anything stellar that blew me away in awhile but I'd say the 98 erdm lunch club was close.
Mnasrin Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 VR Unicos from the Best o the Best April sampler. RA Allones Extra comes a close second.
mk05 Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I like to do micro studies. I went through two cabs of the hdm dd 03 last month, and they were great. During the process, I found that they taste better rather wet, around 68-70% humidity in ambient temp. When I smoked some out the dry box, which is kept mid-50%, it was just another pedestrian smoke. Kept some in a zip lock in 60s, and it started showing some interesting things. Smoked it straight out of my humi approaching the last week, which is kept 70/70, and it was marvelous. Warm, rich, creamy custard. I never knew, but I think the DD's theme is egginess. It was pretty much like holding a custard, or creme brulee in my mouth. Outstanding. Outside of that, Monte Maravillas from the book, Partagas Fox Selection Tres Petite Coronas #9 mid70s, Edmundo Dantes 07, ERdM Panni Larga '83, and Punch Platino. All gifted except for the Platino and honestly can't decide which was best...leaning towards the ERdM cuz I'm an ERdm ho!
shrink Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Without a doubt, the 2002 RA 898 I've had. That's certainly one of my candidates. But it was edged out by a 1998 Monte Especial No. 1. Which in turn was second only to a 1998 Punch Monarca AT.
Munts Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I had a fantastic Monti Petit Edmundo from Dec 07. Hints of cedar, wood, black peppper, bread, leather, herbs, no harshness from start to end.
almudawi Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Por Larranaga Regalias de Londres.. Did not reach its peak yet but is great right now
Pilgrims Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 My first ever Punch Punch, bought in Barcelona and smoked walking around the city...I wouldn't say it set the world alight but was just one of those moments where everything fitted...
mk05 Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 My first ever Punch Punch, bought in Barcelona and smoked walking around the city...I wouldn't say it set the world alight but was just one of those moments where everything fitted... And the next time far down the line you have a Punch Punch, you will remember that time where you walked around the city and everything was much more beautiful. Memorable cigars are an encapsulation of time!
Smallclub Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 ERDM Elegantes from 2001. Not as good as a Grandes de España, though…
westg Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 1966 Cohiba, had a great 2011 LE Hoyo. Believe it or not picked up a box of monti petit edmuno last week in Singapore that were the best I have ever seen . I have often wondered where Rob gets that bitter sweet chocolate taste from ..well I got it good. Trying to save them. Probably bring one for you on Sat Rob if any left.Stil can't believe it Monti Petit Edmundo
Dimmers Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Memorable cigars are an encapsulation of time! Great quote. For me, a few Cohiba 1966's, good plonk and plenty of laughs with one of my best mates on the verandah on a sat night.
DougB Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 '10 Quai D'orsay Imperiales- Fantastic cigar loaded with flavor and just the right amount of strength for smoking in the summer. Enjoyed it in my camping chair while awaiting my favorite band to take the stage. A couple hours of bliss.
Sutton Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 SLR Pacifico ! I had my first one in the early part of June . Cigar wasn't to complex but just over all beautiful flavors . It also started from the very first puff to the last. And the flavors where even increases when exhaling out of your nose. Runne up is a SLR DC from 07 , similar yet a longer journey with more character , but not as smooth.
pjansen Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Monte GE 2010 which was Monte core flavors on steroids.
Lotusguy Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Without a doubt, the 2002 RA 898 I've had. Honorable mention: RA Belicosos RE Alemana 2010

Hello MK, Interesting results on your HdM DD. I have some too which I have been dry boxing before smoking. Your post has me thinking to try them directly from the 'coolidor'! Thanks for the tip, Curtiss
