ramon_cojones Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 So my beloved ramon allones currently only has 3 cigars in their lineup but many more are available as regionals. My question is which ones are the standouts amongst the superiores, celestial finos, belicosos, estupendos etc. I never hear of any talk regarding the lesser known ones like the estupendos but with a name like that they gotta be good right? Which ones are true to the marque and are smoking well? I got a few spain grandes on the way I"m looking forward to trying out and want to get some opinions on the lesser known cigars as well in the regional lineup since I'm not a big regional guy (since habanos is forcing me to go that route LOL).

I hear great things about the Canadian RE, the Super Ramon. I have a box aging that I have not dipped into yet but the people I have spoken with who are smoking them are in love.
Puros Y Vino Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 The RACF is awesome. A tasty powerhouse of a cigar. Beautifully crafted too. I've reviewed the Gladiator the BPE Regional and I'd say it's one of the best cigars I've had in a while. I've also had the Super Ramone. Stunning cigar, smoked beautifully but I think they need some sleep.
canadianbeaver Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 I brought home some beautiful RE's from France...
thechenman Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Superiores would get my vote, followed by the Estupendos.
shrink Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 My 2007 Belicosos are excellent right now. For a relatively young cigar, the Superiores are smoking quite well. And the Estupendos are good, too. Overall, the RA's are among the best Regionals, followed by Por Larranaga.
Lotusguy Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Damn - I typed this reply 3 times now - Firefox crashed on me twice before I could submit I am ranking what I have tried below... 1. RA Belicosos RE Germany 2010 - one of the best cigars ever - finally managed to track down a box which is waiting for me in Germany now 2. RA898 - another all-time best for me but impossible to find 3. RA Superiores - Great and not too pricey, compared to the REs 4. RAE LE 2011 - Get them! 5. RACF - The Cazadores of the RA lineup and not too costly. Not your typical RA profile, though 6. RA Grandes RE Espana - Extremely tasty but too big for me to be a regular smoke (otherwise would be #4) 7. RA Lusitanos RE Portugal - Only had a single and no idea about availability and price. Very good. 8. RA Super Allones RE Canada - Simply too big - got a bit boring. ALso just had one and it was rather young. Haven't tried any others.
prshah25 Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Ramon allones phoenecias from lebanon are the best RA regional to date IMHO..
Diamondog Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 I really enjoy the Gordito Allones and the Super Ramon but nothing touches the Phoenicio OR...
joeypots Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 My 5/'05 RA Belicosos are fantastic. They are boxed and banded as regular RA but are a UK Regional Release. If you got them, smoke them.
cottierm Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Overall, the RA's are among the best Regionals, followed by Por Larranaga. I subscribe to this. RA Superiores anytime! (That said I have in front of me a Gladiator and what a beautiful cigar it is!) Best, Michel
Habanakane21 Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 My favorite RA's. I've smoked at least 5 or more of each. In order 1-Asia Pacific Estupendos 2-Canada Super Ramon 3-Libano Phoenicio 3-Canada Gorditos 4-Superiors 5-Asia Celestial Fino Still haven't busted into my box of Grandes yet.. Hoping to sometime this summer. My opinion is that the Estupendos is the best RE the Ramon Allones has out, from the handfull of RE's that I've tried. Slight Honey, Vanilla, Cinnamon and bits if toasty nuts. Bits of leather and black pepper in the last 3rd. Give it a try Rob, Ken and Smithy had a nice review on the Estupendo a while back. (If I remember correctly) Long live Ramon Allones. RAFL!!!
gersonmorelli Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 The RACF is awesome. A tasty powerhouse of a cigar. Beautifully crafted too. Stunning cigar, smoked beautifully but I think they need some sleep. I echo the RA Gladiator RE BPE... Certainly the best cigar I've had in a while as well and ended up buying a box. Not easy to come across as only 500 boxes of 50 cigars were made. I thoroughly enjoy the RACF as well. Not a huge fan of the Estupendos. Superiores were ok.
bassman Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 The German RA Belis and Canadian RA Petite Unicos are superb. I'm also very happy I stocked up on one of the original Regionals- the Swiss 2005 RA Eminencia. That cigar was NOT impressive young, but is tasting great now.
westg Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 RA Libano Phoenicio if you can find them. Estupendos are nice nice nice. As for the 2011 LE get yourself a box, some people may not like them but if your an RA fan you will like them. Smaller format than the above as well.
Mr.T Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 I've really enjoyed the RA belicosos that have come out in several markets. I think adding a belicoso to the standard production would be a nice and popular addition.
maverickdrinker Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 RA Phoenicia Sublime is my hands down favorite. RA Beritus, RACF, and the RA Andrino are awesome as well.
ramon_cojones Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 Lots of good responses guys. I've had the eminencia a year ago or so, unfortunately it was plugged lol. My buddy swears by the beritus but I find it a tad too mild. I have puffed on a phoenicio so bought a couple singles off a friend that are still in my humidor from the initial release. Also have the german belicoso I haven't touched in a year and a half that I will need to spark up soon. Won't be touching the ra extra anymore have had 4 plugged ones in a row from my box and am fed up. The 898s well I'm just going to steal a box from aes9 when I go over to his place and he's not looking If anyone is willing to sell me a small sampler of maybe an estupendo, superiore, cf, gordito holler at me via pm. Would like to try before committing to a box. RAFL!!
canadianbeaver Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 OK I am home now... Here is what I brought home from Paris: And from Amsterdam *EDIT*... made pics bigger
cottierm Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Send me your address (my e-mail is in my profile) and I'll send you a Superiore. It will cost you $5.30 (Cuban price) + shipping. Best, Michel
Daidemo Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 One more vote for RA Belicosos from UK – 2005 (well matured tobacco and subtle aroma). I had 5 boxes – only one left. German Belicosos from 2010 were also great. Hidden gem is Gran Robusto (RE Benelux), introduced in 2007 – I had a box from second release in 2008.
aes8 Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 2. RA898 - another all-time best for me but impossible to find MO has a box in the auction or you can wait for Vegas and I'll bring you one.
aes8 Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Lots of good responses The 898s well I'm just going to steal a box from aes9 when I go over to his place and he's not looking RAFL!! We'll Herf the 898 and the Superiors in LV back to back while we are checking out the goods under those see through cheese cloth dresses the girls at Casa Fuente wear.
mk05 Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 dude, just smoke the RASS. What more do you really need... PS - I only see 2 RAs in that regionals pic.
aes8 Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 dude, just smoke the RASS. What more do you really need... PS - I only see 2 RAs in that regionals pic. "Need?", it's never about need, it's about want and always wanting more than what you currently have
