I'm sure I'm not the only one who got the vendor email regarding the impending 10% price increase... I guess that confirms the rumors then?

Yep, received it as well this morning. Sad news for my wallet!

Yes, that's very predictable business behaviour from HSA. Like an open book.

Depends where you are, the UK government just put 5% on cigars and then 3% inflation and importers fess (which were swallowed by the importers last year so they won't this year), adds up to between 11-15% rise on UK cigars this year.

nothing really new here, HSA increases prices every year. They can pretty much get away with what they want.

Yeah, but 10% is pretty large. At least island purchases have stayed the same...

10% Ontop of what you allready have to pay up in Canada is just ludacris!!! :tantrum:

*By April 23rd. 10% increase, right?

Time to find a new hobby, prices are getting ridiculous already. :thumbsdwn:

I think there comes a point where they get too exspensive and the vendors have to lower the prices to survive. I'd be curious what these wholesalers, especially the grey market guys actually pay for their cigars? I bet the mark up is considerable...

They are still cheaper than your average NC here in US... ironic.

Don´t blame HSA for all the price increases. Save some blame for Helicopter Ben and his friends at central banks for all the fiat money they print.

In what currency does Habanos sell its cigars?

What about wholesalers and vendors?

I think it´s US dollars. Anyway, ECB, GB and Japan are printing too. And the world economy is tied to $$$, so it doesn´t really matter to which paper they exchange their exports.

But yes, do buy cigars. They´ll be worth much more than paper currency you may hold in few years.

I'm really curious to see if we see this increase across all vendors, especially the more top tier (and higher priced) ones. I'd be very curious to see what types of margins are really being made at the end of the day.

When I really think about it, it really boils down to this. It's not like premium NC sticks are cheaper, and I certainly know where my tastes lie.

last year in canada we saw a 4% price increase :( most B&M shops passed that right onto the consumer but i know a few that did not I hope that this year we dont see a 10% increase. and for those who dont know we in in canada have to pay in Ontario for sure 77.7% tobacco tax

Supply and demand, oh wait . . .

I find it comical that HSA is deleting lines due to sales, but decides to raise prices 10%. Who else can run a business model that way? "Yes, Mr. Consumer I know you aren't buying our products in the volume you did a couple of years ago, so here is what I am going to do . . . I'm going to cut the amount of product available and increase prices every year to motivate you to buy more. What do you think about that?"
