El Presidente Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 What are your 3 most overrated cigars One caveat. You must have smoked 3 from different boxes
Wil Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I have one only: Monte Edmundo. I have only smoked about half a dozen, but from different boxes, and every one of them has been an underfilled wind tunnel.
backslide Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Monte 2. They are good but not even close to the hype. Diplo 2, and Upmann 2's are better IMHO Monte 4. Same as above. They are good, but not amazing. I'd take a Boli PC, Diplo 4, PLPC over it any day. Cohiba GR. I don't even need to say how overrated these are! Jason
Ken Gargett Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 monte C, monte C, monte C. actually that isn't fair. toss in anything of the short persausion.
mk05 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 monte C, monte C, monte C. You know Ken, as much as I hate to agree with you, I agree (because it pains me to accept that I made a mistake on the purchase). The second I saw Rob's post I immediately thought, "Marc, that crappy smoke you have like 8 boxes of." GD it. Can't even give it away. The Monte Robusto 2000 was pretty terrible too - not the jar one. Nothing else is blinking in my mind in terms of CC...I'll think of something, but I genuinely think those two are not even worth trying. Well, I hate anything Liga Privada. That count?
MIKA27 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I dont think I can answer the question in full by way of giving three examples BUT I can give you one.. 1) Montecristo 2 - Never really enjoyed them despite giving them a fair go on many, many occasions. In fact, one of my least favourite cigars of all time.

Munts Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 The ones that spring to my mind straight away are Monte 4 and Punch Punch.
sblevit Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I have made my thoughts known in the past that the Trinidad Robusto T is the most over-rated regular release cigar.
cigcars Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 1. Fuente Fuente Opus X 2. Trinidad series 3. UK Regionals (i.e. Por Larranaga, LaGloria, Punch)the big Corona Gorda sizes. Empty air and underfilled.
Ken Gargett Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 The ones that spring to my mind straight away are Monte 4 and Punch Punch. love the logo thingee!! GO REDS. i smell another yarpie set up this weekend with kaplan appointed to our game again. the bloke likes a headline even more than aker.

Styler Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 The Monty 2 is first by miles. I've had fresh ones, aged ones and ones that people have assured me would change my opinion but I just don't see what all the fuss is about. I could say that about the entire Monty line though. The Bolivar RC would be my second choice. People rave about them and call them classic but like the Monty it's another cigar that I struggle to find a lot of flavour in, especially when compared to some of it's competition like RASS or PSD4. I might be blasted for this but I'm going to have to pick the Trini Reyes as my third cigar. It's not bad at all and I certainly wouldn't say no to one but I'd pick a Party Short or RASCC over it anyday and that's without factoring in their increased cost.
investandprosper Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I've never had a good experience with a RASCC. Been looking to revisit them again, but they are hard to come by these days. PSD4 hasn't been very consistent (the PSP2 and 898V are stellar). My third would be the Monte Grand Edmundo. I've had one from three different boxes, and each has been bland and boring. I know others love them; I'm hoping they get better with age.
rusty Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Monte 2. They are good but not even close to the hype. Diplo 2, and Upmann 2's are better IMHO Same here
coug28 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Any Cuban LE I've tried Cohiba Maduro - Maduros are best left to the NCs. They do em' better, and for much cheaper than these.
jedipastor Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 1) Any Regional I've ever had 2) Monte #2 (I just don't get it ... guess I've never had a good one?) 3) Cohiba Siglo VI (good cigar, just not nearly enough flavor for the price tag)
Zigatoh Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 only three?? Gotta agree with the CoSig VI, not horrible but nothing special for price and hype! PSD4, again nothing bad especially just very inconsistent and never got on with them but they seem to be a favourite of many... Then having trouble deciding between the ryj short and wide or the monte PE, find them all bland tbh. To the poster Ken above tho, the monte c? That the 2003 EL? Just that I've only had one, a year back, and I'd had a few drinks, but I thought it was excellent! Probly just me tho
